She was having a hard time and wanted to stay with her parents 300 miles away, but was apparently broke. Another friend and I gave her £25 each so £50 in total.

Then she bought some expensive makeup and a nutribullet.

You can't buy a nutribullet for £50. They cost more than that- closer to £100.

What's the timescale on this? If this all happened simultaneously then of course YANBU. Did she actually go to her parents? You won't get much expensive make up for £50 and definitely not a nutribullet, so this might not all be connected.

Making expensive purchases post-borrowing money from friends is an absolute no-no however (if you've made no effort to pay the money back).

You lent her money, maybe you weren't the only ones who gave her money?

Did you tell her it was a loan? You say you 'have' it to her, sounds like she might have thought it was a gift.

If she's been paid and has still got your money over, then it's upto her what she spends money on.

Yeah I'm in agreement with everyone else. She wanted to go to her parents but couldn't afford too - because she hadn't been paid or because she just generally couldn't afford too?

If she thinks you gifted her £25 each to go to her parents then she won't think she's being unreasonable to spend her own money - it was a gift. If you loaned it to her, instead of gave it to her, you have more of a case.

You gave her the money...Did you say you expected it back? If not, YABU. She can spend money she receives afterwards on what she likes.

If it was a loan just ask for it back. If it wasn't then don't judge her

My dad used to tell me, Never loan money to friends unless you don't want it back.

Because pay day was probably yesterday so its not as if she has left it ages to pay you back.
