To think Indesit/Hotpoint's handling of the bursting into flames dryers is awful?

I didn't want to wait until Christmas for a repair with the dryer about to burst into flames at any second so ordered one of their replacement dryers for £99. Only I need to rearrange delivery (it's coming next Tuesday) & the useless gits never ever answer the phone.

I've been calling for weeks. I have spent HOURS on hold. Their tinkly music winding me up until I'm about to BURST. And still no bugger answers.

I've tried Twitter. Only to be asked if I'd tried ringing the number in the email. Yes, I've told you that thirty million times. I've provided my shoe size, my favourite colour and the names of my great-great grandparents. For the love of biscuits somebody please just change my delivery date to one of the many I've sent you. Or ring me. Send smoke signals (from a faulty dryer) if you must, just please contact me!

I've tried emailing their CEO (didn't work). I've just this second sent a Private message on Facebook.

I'm going to book a day off work and stage one woman sit in at their head office next week.

My mum registered back in November had one phone call in Jan which she missed and has heard nothing since. She's finally given up and bought a replacement (different brand) a fortnight ago

insancerre · 30/03/2016 13:38

Curry's refused me a refund

But hot point have agreed!
Yes!¡!!!¡!!!!!!!!

Horsemad · 30/03/2016 14:41

Just had my new White Knight tumble dryer delivered Smile Hopefully there will be no problems with this one!

vickibee · 30/03/2016 14:48

our dryer is just over a year old, our appointment for repairs is scheduled for November, think I may email Maurizio for a free replacement too. Horsemad what did you say to get that outcome

Horsemad · 30/03/2016 15:01

Just told him the facts and that I'd been getting messed around being offered modification and then replacement appliance.

I never received a reply from him, but certainly things started moving faster from that point.

Worth a try vickibee?

DH registered ours last November. We didn't hear anything and then I found out they'd had problems with their registration system, so he did it again in December. We were told it would be August before someone came out, which is ridiculous. Added to this, we kept it in the garage which isn't attached to the house, so it was impossible to attend it when it was on. We were offered the replacement (£99), but I'd read that some people had got them and then found out the replacements were affected too! I got so fed up with it all that I ordered a Bosch. We keep it in the house now, which is not ideal but recommended, so at least we're around when it's on.
I think hot point have handled this horrendously. I will never buy another of their products. OP, you are right to be annoyed. You've got more patience with them than I have!

Collaborate · 30/03/2016 15:13

Had ours done yesterday. They have to replace the back panel.

Took him half an hour.

bakingaddict · 30/03/2016 15:15

I haven't used my tumble dryer since the other week when I walked in the kitchen to smell burning and it filled with white smoke. I phoned yesterday and they had the audacity to tell me I may have to pay a call out charge. Apparently because of the report of smoke I'm on some fast track thing but just in case I'm lying I may have to pay the engineer. Like fuck I'm paying any call out charges the cheeky feckers can take me to court instead if they try that

Elfieselfie · 02/04/2016 15:37

Bakingaddict thats disgraceful! The cheeky bastards Angry

I will never buy any Indesit/Hotpoint device now. The best thing would be for everyone in the world to do the same, and they'd learn the hard way what such appalling customer service brings. Though I accept that doesn't help everyone with a dodgy dryer right now.

If someone is killed by a fire from one of these dryers, are Hotpoint liable? Or are they safe because they've told you it's dodgy even though they haven't bothered to immediately replace it?

amazingtracy · 02/04/2016 17:47

My one and only tip for anyone buying white goods is to avoid this company at all costs. I literally wouldn't accept a free Hotpoint/Indicit appliance.
I don't know which is worse- their products or their customer service!

At one point I had a customer service agent insisting that I lived in a different country from what I was telling her!!!! I may have my off days but I'm pretty sure I know what country I live in!!!

BestIsWest · 02/04/2016 17:54

We've been told nex February for a repair! That's over a year from reporting it.

JennyOnAPlate · 02/04/2016 19:54

We reported it before Christmas abs are apparently waiting until September for a repair. I feel very sorry for those of you whose driers were practically brand new! Ours is almost 8 years old so I'm probably not as furious as some of you must be!

insancerre · 02/04/2016 20:04

Jenny
I bought mine in October and registered it in November
It was less than a month old
I've now asked for a refund and they are going to contact me to arrange to take it away
