To think Indesit/Hotpoint's handling of the bursting into flames dryers is awful?

I didn't want to wait until Christmas for a repair with the dryer about to burst into flames at any second so ordered one of their replacement dryers for £99. Only I need to rearrange delivery (it's coming next Tuesday) & the useless gits never ever answer the phone.

I've been calling for weeks. I have spent HOURS on hold. Their tinkly music winding me up until I'm about to BURST. And still no bugger answers.

I've tried Twitter. Only to be asked if I'd tried ringing the number in the email. Yes, I've told you that thirty million times. I've provided my shoe size, my favourite colour and the names of my great-great grandparents. For the love of biscuits somebody please just change my delivery date to one of the many I've sent you. Or ring me. Send smoke signals (from a faulty dryer) if you must, just please contact me!

I've tried emailing their CEO (didn't work). I've just this second sent a Private message on Facebook.

I'm going to book a day off work and stage one woman sit in at their head office next week.

Facebook them, my sister had a repair date for November, funnily enough her dryer was repaired within a week of going on social media.

DottyBee · 23/03/2016 08:24

I went on their Facebook page. I got a response to my comment straight away. My dryer was repaired within a week.

Collaborate · 23/03/2016 08:52

I've just face booked them. Registered November, in January got an email to say check repair status on their website. Says there that they'll repair this month but I've heard nothing.

I'm sure that the reason for the problem is that they are just swamped. I think there are around 3-4m affected appliances.

I always, without fail, clear the fluff filter after each load. However i recently fished out a massive ball of lint that had fallen down below the filter.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 23/03/2016 09:04

My mum has one of those dryers. They arent coming til may to fix that bloody thing.

WellErrr · 23/03/2016 09:15

I've heard nothing and it's been months. I NEED to use the dryer but the fluff in it is unreal and I cannot clean it all out. The fucking thing only stays on half an hour anyway before it cuts out.

Not happy.

AlbusPercival · 23/03/2016 09:24

Cathpip - are you my Sister?

insancerre · 23/03/2016 09:34

I'm sick of it now
I only bought the bloody thing in October to find out it was duff in November
Had the run around from hotpoint
I've just left my 3rd post on their Facebook page. I've now asked for a refund

Collaborate · 23/03/2016 09:35

After face booking them I've now got an appointment. result!

Sirzy · 23/03/2016 09:43

When they are repaired be careful.

A subcontractor came to do mine, spent about 10 minutes "fixing" it and then went. Thankfully when we put it on it started making a clunking sound so I phoned hot point. Give them their due they had someone out that afternoon, a proper hotpoint engineer who confirmed that the repair hadn't actually been done and that that should take an hour. Managed to trigger a major investigation for them to find out what had happened and a lot of homes who needed them rechecking!

BettyBusStop · 23/03/2016 12:16

I've just spoken to a person!

Why the fuck they don't employ a few extra staff to deal with this is beyond me. They must be losing more in goodwill than a few staff would cost. I will never buy from them again and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I've just spoken to someone too, who tells me that my repair will be carried out this month, I. E. March, and to expect a call a couple of days beforehand!

I look forward to receiving it, though am concerned with only a week of March left with 2 bank holidays included, that they don't have much time left to contact me to arrange...

Olishi · 23/03/2016 12:46

My mum had to pay for a replacement after being told no one could come out to fix her dryer until Christmas.

Anyone who does this, double check the number on the new dryer as well as apparently people are being sent replacements which are still faulty.

Olddear · 23/03/2016 12:54

Don't start me! I was told in January it would be 10 weeks til an engineer could come, then an email to say it would be Jan 2017 but I could get a replacement. All weekend I tried online but the website wouldn't let me submit my order.
I phoned 3 times yesterday. Halfway through I was cut off, 2nd call I was again halfway through when the guy told me his internet was playing up, call again in an hour, did that and I had to repeatedly give my details to a girl who sounded Chinese, then she kept putting me on hold, came back, had to spell/repeat details, got as far as credit card payment and payment wouldn't go through, gave another credit card which wouldn't go through either!!!! She said 'must be our website, phone back tomorrow!!!'
I have sent an email to hotpoint who say they will call me in 48 hours.....watch this space!

insancerre · 23/03/2016 12:57

The internet is teasing me with an ad for Bosch dryers
Oh if only I'd bought one of those, but I didn't have enough money to get one, or a miele which is what I really wanted

gabbyaug · 23/03/2016 13:08

I've had my repair done - engineer came last week. He had to repair it in the garden which is where it now lives as I won't have it in the house. Still won't, I am not prepared to use the shoddy piece of shit ever again. We've bought a replacement (different brand) which we can't afford really. I want a full refund from Hotpoint

DontOpenEggInside · 23/03/2016 15:17

The guy who delivered my replacement said all the "affected" ones are not all affected, Whirlpool is just treading on the cautious side. I wonder if Whirlpool knew about this when they took over Hotpoint/Indesit?

Horsemad · 23/03/2016 15:36

Bought mine in Sept, reported in Nov. They kept trying to get me to have a modification or buy a replacenent but I refused. Finally got mine collected 3 weeks ago, still waiting for cheque...
Received email last Thurs saying it would be 3-5 working days.

I am heartily sick of them!

Here is the CEO's email address.

Pastamancer · 23/03/2016 17:06

Wow, I contacted them when it all first happened and they delivered a brand new replacement about a week later

Pastamancer · 23/03/2016 17:07

Posted too soon. It was free, they installed it and too the old one away too

Horsemad · 23/03/2016 17:22

Same for my neighbour too Pastamancer.

HelenaDove · 23/03/2016 18:01

WTF has happened to Hotpoint Ive never had a tumble dryer so am not affected.

I had a Hotpoint washing machine which lasted 14 years!

i reckon a few landlords who kept telling their tenants to buy tumble dryers so they dont dry clothes indoors are regretting saying anything now.

I've had a reply to my Facebook rant
I've asked for a refund and they've asked for proof of purchase
I've posted a photo of my receipt
I'm not accepting a modification
I don't want the dryer anymore
