This isn't an issue to me, I was in fact, very grateful and happy.

DD is 7; she has a mini-suitcase for the plane. She accidentally packed a body spray, a family member had brought her. Airport security let it go through, when she started to tear up.

AIBU to think this wasn't that smart?

I think they had enough sense to know what they were dealing with and it was nothing to do with your DD tearing up.

I think the security could detect whether it is a trained small woman or a child.

All of this so called 'security' is a nonsense, it's just a way of controlling people and making out the authorities are in charge. Odd, isn't it, that no-one gets searched before boarding a train, a high-speed vehicle carrying 500+ plus people?

Ds was body searched at an airport when he was 3! The security woman put her arms up to gesture to him to do the same (like a 3 year old would know what that meant ) and he thought she wanted a cuddle!

I had an absolute blinder at Houston Airport security. I was travelling with my pet cat (live) in hand luggage. He was in a specialised carry crate for under the seat. The security staff wanted to put him through X-ray so that they could check his carry box. I refused, told them that they could X-ray the box, but not the cat and that I needed somewhere safe to hold him so that he couldn't escape while they X-rayed the box.

So they took me to the security office. They place where all the staff leave their personal belongings, had all their computer systems and mountains of other TSA stuff. AND LEFT ME IN THE ROOM ON MY OWN. While I held DCat and they X-rayed his travel crate. I could have caused security chaos.

I can only conclude that they figured a Crazy cat lady Brit who was insane enough to travel with a live ginger cat in hand luggage was not exactly a security problem!

I had my luggage scanned on my way out of the airport in Chennai last week and on the way into the hotel. I understand it at the hotel but not when leaving the airport.
When dd was a few month old we went through security at EDI airport and when we were through we discovered an unused sparkler from bonfire night in the basket under the push chair. Lucky they didn't swap us with those pads.

I got trouble for my sons having bright orange plastic cheap tat lazer type in their hand luggage. Apparently i should have known better.

And they nearly took my sons trainers off him because one of the flashing lights didn't flash and it could be because i'd packed his shoes with explosives.

There's no evidence that the liquids rules make us any safer. Just be pleased you got away with it. It may be that the container was within the volume limit anyway even if it wasn't in a plastic bag as it should have been.

If they seriously think it might be explosives, they have swab tests they can do - if your bag is randomly selected for a search they'll swab it for explosives.

It was more, if it was 100g or less, I wouldn't think it was odd, as it's allowed.

When my daughter was 10 weeks old I flew up north with her for Christmas. Secirity ADR me take her out of her pram and hold her out I'm front of me so they could run the bady scan over her. The damn thing kept beeping at the crotch. The security lady made me take her trousers off and we soon realised it was the poppers on her vest that was setting it off. I was pretty pissed off at the time.
