Sporners AIBU - DP with a TWO year old blackthorn in his knuckle

Pantone363 · 21/03/2016 09:08

Tree surgeon. Its just sat there floating around. When he makes a fist I can SEE it under the skin. You can move it around with your finger. A big lumpy blackthorn just sitting there waiting to come out...

AIBU to think he should let me get it out (not sure how, would probably need a scalpel). He 'hasn't got time to go to the GP'...can you imagine the gunk that will come out of it!

2 years Shock how have you lasted this long OP?! Grin

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 21/03/2016 10:12

I love that you are going to make him a nice tea pre-op! 😂😂😂

You absolutely must go out and buy a scalpel, you can't order it from Amazon! 😮

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/03/2016 10:14

Don't mind me, just malting my place for later

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 21/03/2016 10:24

As in sprinkling with water and leaving to sprout? That's a bit...specialist.

LetMeBe · 21/03/2016 10:28

Have you thought about how the wound would heal afterwards? Would a plaster be enough?

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 21/03/2016 11:27

Are you suggesting stitches letmebe .....I think that might be too far for a DIY-er!

Althought the dog recently had an op and I did feel I could have done a neater job of the stitches than the vet did....maybe I missed my calling.

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 21/03/2016 11:33

Oh this is exciting

embroideredbee · 21/03/2016 11:35

excitedly marking place

FedoraTheExplora · 21/03/2016 11:40

Eek Grin

annandale · 21/03/2016 11:45

Sorry to be a sporn killjoy but has anyone read the thread about the guy who's mumsnet sporner partner did home ear syringing and has burst his eardrum, giving him agonising pain and he will need surgery...?

I've had a sporn epiphany. Don't buy a scalpel, make him a gp appt.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 21/03/2016 11:45

Grin how exciting

How you have lasted so long I don't know I think I would have slipped something into his drink by now

twernip · 21/03/2016 13:12

eagerly awaits pics

LetMeBe · 21/03/2016 13:22

Sorry I'm not suggesting it all, just has op considered the complications it could cause if stitches were needed? If using the scalpel op cut down too far into the skin?
I suppose using a scalpel for a spot wouldn't be too bad. With the thorn I find it scary.
Best to seek advice from professionals although need to convince him first to see them. Good luck!

PurpleDaisies · 21/03/2016 13:27

Can I encourage you not to get carried away with all the encouragement to essentially perform surgery on your dh? It's one thing to use a sterilised needle to get a splinter out. It's quite another to go out and buy a scalpel. You're risking infection, lots of bleeding, depending on how deep and where you could damage nerves and tendons. Sorry to be the voice of doom.

Please encourage your dh to see his GP if he wants this removing.

AliceInUnderpants · 21/03/2016 13:34

shamlessly placemarking

Stratter5 · 21/03/2016 14:08

Cor, Sporning has been good lately.

Pantone363 · 21/03/2016 14:18

Call off the sporners Sad DP text and said "are you having a laugh? Unless I missed you getting a medical degree you can fuck right off you sicko" then "and got to wear dirty gloves all week, don't fancy gangrene" then "you know there's something wrong with you"

He's not going to let meAngry

Pantone363 · 21/03/2016 14:19

I'll post a pic so you can see it in all its glory still under the skin Sad

Elledouble · 21/03/2016 14:20

A scalpel does seem a bit extreme - show us a pic OP, please! We'll advise on what wants doing!

NewMinouMinou · 21/03/2016 14:28

I'm with the DH on this...his texts are hilarious!

The thing is, the prospect of dirty gloves and gangrene would probably appeal to the average sporner...
Don't go getting any ideas, OP.

LeanneBattersby · 21/03/2016 14:35

A scalpel won't hurt at all if it's literally just skin covering it. And he'll just need a little plaster over it to protect it afterwards.

How can he say no to Mumsnet's first DIY surgery performed by a complete amateur?

PurpleDaisies · 21/03/2016 14:37

How indeed? Grin

whois · 21/03/2016 14:40

OMG I love sporn. Can spend ages watching you tube videos!

DP often has spots or ingrown hairs and he never lets me anywhere near them :-(

GreatFuckability · 21/03/2016 14:47

He's a baby. Id divorce him.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 21/03/2016 14:53

What a spoilsport. Doesn't he know he has many people hanging on this thread in his honour? This thread DEPENDS on him!
