Encouraging my 6 year old to believe in Santa and Elfs and magical things?

My 6 year old DS believes in Santa and the tooth fairy and likes stories like The Faraway tree and The Wishing chair and last week he discovered a secret door in his bedroom-(the kind you can buy and put on the skirting board) and I like to encourage it all -One of my friends thinks he's getting too old for it and maybe I shouldn't encourage him with things like the door-a few of the boys at school seem much older and are quite serious boys -should I stop?

I'm going to remember that Armful, way to move on to the spirit of people and giving.

I still believe and I'm 44. And I only learnt about there being and Easter bunny after DD was born. Not much magic growing up in my household as a child. When my DD came home before last Xmas telling me wants didn't exist I was most perplexed and set about proving her wrong. She's nearly 8.

I also thought it was good to show him that something that one person did, so very long ago has had such an impact on the world.

Anyway, when are you off to bewilderwood op?
It's awesome Grin

Love your post Armful!
This thread makes me sad! My DS is 5 and I heard him telling his cousin yesterday about his elf who came to stay at Christmas. He loved it. The thought of him growing up and realising none of it is true makes me 😢

Bless him, that's sweet! Let him believe, though be sure to tell him before he gets to high school Wink

I knew somebody once who was told by his friends when he was 12 that Father Christmas wasn't real. His Mum had assumed he knew that it was all make believe and thought he'd been playing along with the stocking and letter-writing!
