To think I should get a bit of time every weekend with DC

I have posted about this before but more in relation to maintenance.

So I used to have DC every Friday. One week I'd take them to ex on Saturday morning, the next week on Sunday morning. They always come back to me Tuesday after school.

This way we both got a bit of time with DC at weekends.

6 weeks ago Ex asked if we could change it so the weekend he has DC from Saturday, he would have them from Friday instead.

In hindsight I feel as this is so he could pay less maintenance.

I now only get to spend weekend time with my DC once a fortnight whereas he sees them every weekend. I do the lions share of shit school run bits.

Aibu? When questioned he said oh well we'll ask DC what they want to do, knowing full well they'll want to be with dad and their iPads, sweets and slack parenting.

So this is all about the fact that you lost your Week 1 Saturday morning, then?

KolaKoola · 18/03/2016 20:01

Yes. We used to stay up a bit later and watch a film or something then have a lazy start, or get up early and go to the woods. It was nice to have that little bit of time once a week.

You still have them every other saturday though to lie in or go to the woods.

KolaKoola · 18/03/2016 20:04

Obviously I mean stay up a bit later on the Friday night.

Ex said he wanted them on the fri night as wanted to take them to Saturday morning movie club which has never happened.

I do feel it was more that he wanted the extra night for maintenance purposes, and he no longer goes out on the Friday as has a new girlfriend.

I know elf, but I do miss that bit of time where we don't have to rush. Ex has that every week as it stands.

He has to rush on a sunday to go get them from you though? He doesnt get a lie in or early walk in the woods on that weekend.

OohMavis · 18/03/2016 20:12

You should both get a full weekend each. I don't see how it's fair otherwise.

KolaKoola · 18/03/2016 20:13

On the Sunday I drop them at his house at 10. He has never collected them.

Mavis, dividing the weekends up worked well as the DC are young and we live close by.

I will see what he says about the eow thing and repot back

RudeElf · 18/03/2016 20:19

Maybe he needs to start collecting them! Why is it just you? Especially if you live close by, its no hardship for him.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/03/2016 21:45

OK, I see. But it appears that you have them on the week 2 Saturday and Sunday until 10am.

You have them:
Week 1 - 0
Week 2 - Saturday through Sunday 10 am

But I do think you should each have one full weekend so 'Week 2' should be all yours, 'Week 1' all his. In other words, neither parent is 'entitled' to time with the children every weekend, unless you want to split every weekend into Saturday with one parent, Sunday with the other. Each parent is entitled to one full weekend.

Pardon if I'm wrong. But haven't you posted about this before? There was something about you working or wanting to work a few hours on the Saturday or something?

KolaKoola · 18/03/2016 23:42

That sounds great, I'd be happy with

Every week the following nights -

Me - Tues, wed, thurs, fri, sat all day

Ex - sat night, sun, mon

Why would he go for that though when he looses a day? Why not give him another day - if you are going to split time you need to split it evenly not skewed so you get more time than him.

Could you change it so you have DC

Week 1: Tues eve - Sat eve
Week 2: Weds eve - Sun morn

That way you both always have some weekend time?

KolaKoola · 19/03/2016 07:00

Hi wouldn't loose a day, at the moment he gets 4 nights one week and 2 the next. That's 6 a fortnight.

This way he'd get 3 nights every week, so 6 a fortnight.

It would just be spread more evenly.
