Anyone had a dental implant and if so how much did it cost?

Having an absolute nightmare with my teeth since the start of my tmj and tooth grinding about 2 years ago. I now have a suspected cracked front tooth and may need it removed. I'm only in my 20s so I'm really upset and don't fancy the idea of a denture or ruining other teeth for a bridge.
Anyone had a successful implant in the UK and how much did it cost?

It shouldn't hurt either!!!

ImperialBlether · 06/03/2016 22:17

And do these implants last forever? Would any part of them need to be replaced?

ginplease83 · 06/03/2016 22:20

in theory yes possibly the crown on top but variables include how well the patient looks after the implant, quality of bone, the way it was placed etc

Stillwishihadabs · 07/03/2016 07:43

It does sound quite invasive and time consuming......I guess this is why I haven't done it over the last 11 years..... Food for thought thanks.

I'm in france and looking at my quote as I wait to start.
935€ for putting it in
540€ for the implant
480€ for the crown. 107.50€ of which will be reimbursed by social security.

wallywobbles · 07/03/2016 08:08

I also had an X-ray last week at about 100€ and I will be having the stitches out after 3 weeks which I'm guessing will also have a cost.

wallywobbles · 07/03/2016 08:52

All finished. So took about 30 mins.

Sorry everyone I didn't get chance to get back on last night. MrsMorton I have severe tmj and tooth grinding and the tooth has cracked, no decay, no other issues. It was a perfectly healthy front bottom tooth but because of how my bite sits now with the joint problem that tooth takes most if the force when I night grind. I've tried soft mouth guards, hard mouth guards, and I'm still under a dental hospital for those issues but they don't want to operate because if my age and low success rate.
My own dentist seems out of his depth with it all really.
Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone.

Ok now 7 hours later it's pretty achy. Not unbearable but I haven't eaten yet.

What was his name please as I'm in the south east ?

DH has just been to see about implants. He has a bridge 5 teeth wide at the moment that is about to fall out as the supporting teeth are rotten. We have been quoted £21,000 for 3 posts with 5 teeth on top, plus new tops for 2 crowns either side for colour matching purposes. It does include a bone graft. Completely out of our budget so he is now looking into going to Poland or Hungary, which terrifies me as I can imagine it all going horribly wrong and then we won't have any money to fix it. Trouble is, the implant clinic was recommended by his own dentist so we don't know where to turn now.

Wobblybitts · 17/08/2018 00:21

I was as nervous as hell as I am not great with dentists but as it was a front tooth... anyway it was totally pain free, he put the screw bit in with a temporary tooth which I had to keep for 6 months then fitted the permanent one. That was 4 years ago now, cost 3000

gillymut · 30/01/2019 22:38

Hi Villainousbroodmare. We live in Belfast and our adult daughter has just knocked out her front tooth and needs an implant. Can I ask you who did your two front teeth implants?
Many thanks

I had one done nearly 10 years ago so out of date price wise but I've never had a problem with it and it's been money well spent. I didn't need any work done on the bone so I remember that made it cheaper. I had it checked by the oral surgeon every year at the beginning now every two - this is private so costs about £90 iirc.

@ExConstance

I had two done at The Brighton Implant Clinic in Hove. It was a bit of a nuisance going backwards and forwards between Gloucestershire and Brighton several times but I am very pleased with the results.I think they still charge about £1k starting price for a tooth. Mine were a bit complicated and the original quote was more expensive, but once they did the work the supected complication wasn't there, so the bill was smaller. They do nothing but implants day in day out, so I think that is why they are less expensive. Mine were UL 2&3 ( the canine and one behind it) the procedure itself wasn't painful but afterwards every tooth in my head was very nigggly from all the battering about for days. The worst bit was waiting to go into the surgery, there was a bit of a delay as the person before me took longer than they expected. I'm sure I will have more problems one day with another bridge that is reaching the end of its life, and I'll certainly go back to them. My two new teeth are very natural, match the others perfectly and make my whole smile much nicer.
@ExConstance- sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but are you still around? I am in the same position- live in Gloucestershire and contemplating travelling to Brighton for affordable dental implants. Would you be happy to chat off-thread? I'd be really grateful 😊

DH had one a few years ago, which cost £3k. He's going to have two more done this year, with the total cost for both being £5k. It's cheaper because he's having them both done at the same time.
