I have worn glasses since I was 7, then contact lenses from 18 up until my 40s when I developed dry eyes and other problems which meant I had to give them up
Now at 51 am having to consider varifocals
I have quite a strong prescription so usually have the lenses made thinner, prefer rimless styles and due to allergies have to have either titanium or stainless steel frames
My current pair are also transitions as I found that cheaper last time than buying a second pair even with the offers around
I've tried 3 local independents along with vision express and specsavers
Cheapest quote I've had was around £400 dearest £600+
That was not for custom varifocals but not for the very basic ones either

Like Floisme I'm a bit vain about them - have had to wear them since I was 9 and I still have a bit of an issue about it! I have tried on and coveted £400 frames but my current pair were £95 all in with slightly thinned lenses from Specsavers and I'm very happy with them. They are Replay, I think. I'm -2.75/-3.75.

About £150 two years ago, vari focals due to my advanced age.

£25
I insisted on the cheapest frames they had and refused thinning. I'm -9.5 so they were pretty surprised about the thinning. I don't care. It's a con.
I got a thicker plastic frame to hide the thickness and a smaller area lens.

Mine were £570 I know my visions really bad but not sure how bad, I don't know how to read my prescription but these are my contact lenses. My glasses were £120 frames and £450 lenses, I paid to have them thinned there were 3 levels of thinning with higher charges for each, I picked the middle one and they are still like bottle bottoms. Have these 4-5 years so time to renew soon it's just so expensive and spent all my money on IVF Grin
