to think my neighbours are strange

I've lived in my house since July last year and I live in a quiet cul de sac.

I have a neighbour over the road and he hasn't once opened any of his curtains since we have moved in. I see him occasionally outside but I can't understand why the curtains would be permanently closed.

DH thinks there is some kind of breaking bad operation going on in there Hmm

I think this thread sums up why his curtains are closed Grin

In our last house, our over-the-road neighbours never opened their curtains, but there was a kid who played basketball in the back garden.

For 6 years I joked they had a cannabis farm

We moved 4 years ago and a month after we moved they were raided and everyone in the street was astonished that they were a cannabis farm!!

We don't open our curtains. The bay window is drafty and it gives me a sore neck sitting in front of it delicate flower and dh works nights so bedroom curtains are thermal blackouts and stay shut unless he's got a day off.

I also feel really exposed and freaked out by them being open and everyone being able to see my living room.

No weed farms here I'm afraid. I can't even manage a stick of bamboo...

My auntie and uncle never opened the curtains in case the carpet and the sofa and chairs faded. I put it down to them being immigrants and it being the first house/furniture they'd owned in their new country, and therefore being fiercely protective of it?! Either that or they were just bonkers. Or most likely, both if the rest of the family were anything to go by.

House full of illegal immigrants?

TheySayIamparanoid · 01/03/2016 01:49

Well my bedroom curtains are firmly shut, at least until I've finished watching the rest of the series of Ghost Whisperer!

I have a neighbour like that, he took down his blinds and he only has his curtains open with no nets like for two hours then around 1pm he closes them.
He sometimes comes to the window as well to spy on me, its really strange. I started to ignore it now.

The man lives in one room and has no furniture in the other rooms so keeps the curtains closed as he is embarrassed. He also pretends he goes to work as he is unemployed, but usually just finds a quiet warm place to sit until it's time to go home, from 'work'?

Same across the road from us a woman, baby and young boy moved in last summer and the blinds are shut all the time! I often wonder why she never opens them, very occasionally you might see them open in one room for an hour or so and then closed again! Find it very strange that you wouldn't want any daylight coming in.

maracuya · 01/03/2016 04:31

Same as my next door neighbors. Curtains always closed, never seen them come in or out except in the car, no noise ever (we share a wall), security cameras, etc. We're convinced it's a grow house as well!

cosmicglittergirl · 01/03/2016 07:27

We moved to our road last year and the house directly opposite permanently had its curtains closed. Just after Christmas a police officer knocked on my door to inform me it was a cannabis farm. Then got to see a guy get arrested and the place get emptied. Never smelt anything.
