This! Just this!
I hate the term full time mummy but I am aghast at this popping up on my feed!

In fact I think maybe I'll leave the washing this afternoon and go feed the ducks instead....because I can!

It's ridiculous! I've had someone drive past shouting "get a job" when ds was ten months. It was around 10:30 and my shift didn't start until 14:30. It really upset me and I felt as though that's what everyone was thinking. It made me really paranoid about taking ds out!

Gowgirl · 24/02/2016 12:01

I was on my own with DS 1, and very touchy about having to claim, this would have upset me then. Still st George's day coming up! That's always good for a Facebook cull!

Haha oh this is brilliant. My eldest dd's dad gave me a rant last week about how would I know what work is. Yes yes, with a 7yr old, 5 yr old and 16 month old twins I just sit and twiddle my thumbs all day. Im gonna save this pic and whatsapp it to him

manicinsomniac · 24/02/2016 12:06

I agree with the message (up until the tax payer bit which is ridiculous) but combined with the picture it's very offensive. SAHMs come from all walks of life and, actually, the people I most commonly see using the phrase 'full time mummy' (vomit!) are a very, very different demographic to that picture.

MoreGilmoreGirls · 24/02/2016 12:07

I'm a SAHM and too have never been more knackered. Also don't claim anything other than CB. What a lovely post. Well done OP for challenging

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/02/2016 12:12

That meme is awful. Benefit bashers whom post those things get deleted quickly.

I do hate the term "full time mummy" though, or even "full time carer". Especially from people whose kids are at school and do the same amount of caring as I do outside of work hours.

seafoodeatit · 24/02/2016 12:15

It depends on who posted it, DH? rightful outrage, anybody else? the world is full of people with prejudiced views. Facebook with all these ready-made memes makes it easier to present these views, it's the equivalent of political car bumper stickers.

ingeniousidiot · 24/02/2016 12:20

It's a hell of a lot better than the picture that I saw on there this morning - the irony being I only saw it because a friend had commented for it to be removed. Horrid, no need, and I have no idea what stupid idea/charity or whatever it was trying to promote.

Gowgirl · 24/02/2016 12:24

Seafood- Dh wouldn't dare! This was a young mum of one, as far as I know she's at college part time, maybe she didn't realise it was bloody offensive...

Ugh-this is exactly why I quit Facebook a few years ago.

I recall a study which showed that Facebook acts as a depressant for most users.

tbtc20 · 24/02/2016 12:28

Bollocks to it.

I do paid employment full time from home. My children (6 and 16) are at school. Who is their Mum when I'm not there? I do believe it's still me! `

For those who do not do paid employment when their children are at school, they are still their Mum.

For those with children at home that they are looking after they are their Mum.

Ta da, once you have a child you are a Mother, there's no full or part time to it.

why am I even getting embroiled in this

BadgersBum · 24/02/2016 12:39

I'm a full time mummy, I don't have my child adopted every morning before I go out to work, then get them back through the courts each evening (probably a good job, or I'd be tempted to leave it a few days every now and again!).

I was also a SAHP for a couple of years when he was first born, my DH carried on being a full time daddy while going to his job every day, and we got Jimmie Jack Shit from the 'taxpayers' for our trouble.

I'm at work at the moment, doing fuck all (except MNing) and scrounging off my boss!

If the kids that I look after were someone else's I would be known as a babysitter or childminder and seen as having a job. Have never understood this distinction.

I assume that most parents are, like me, doing their best with the circumstances that they have. Don't get the SAHP/non-SAHP judginess.

RedToothBrush · 24/02/2016 12:48

If you work at a nursery or as a nanny then you don't have a proper job then, as looking after a child isn't a real job.

Right? RIGHT?!

diddl · 24/02/2016 12:50

I tend to think of profession as something like teacher, that you trained for (although I think that I may be wrong in that), so the first sentence doesn't bother me too much.

But the rest is just stereotypical crap!

AdriftOnMemoryBliss · 24/02/2016 12:53

i wish people on my feed were only posting that.

i've spent the morning defriending ignorant cunts posting memes about ADHD not being real.

LaraCroftInDisguise · 24/02/2016 13:02

Gowgirl You get a Mummy money allowance? I need to pitch this to my DP!

I'm also a SAHM but don't claim anything from the state. Except Child Benefit

LaraCroftInDisguise · 24/02/2016 13:03

Strike out fail Grin

Canshopwillshop · 24/02/2016 13:05

Wankers! on the subject of inappropriate posts, I was taken aback last night when a FB friend shared a 'bring back the Robertsons' Golliwogs' picture Shock.

Jw35 · 24/02/2016 13:14

Yes I posted this on it: what a wanky post, you obviously watch too much channel 5

As a stay at home mum to a 14 month old (and one on the way) on benefits (shock horror) this post completely offended me obviously. I have no intention of working (away from home) until my youngest is 3 (I won't use childcare). I don't mind claiming benefits as that's what they're for and I've worked before and will work again.

I hate the term 'taxpayers money' and other bollocks. There's far too much benefit bashing these days. I don't even like having to justify claiming benefit, it's not something I feel bad about. I live a very basic life it's certainly not a picnic but I want to be with my babies and circumstances mean I have no other support to do so.

LagunaBubbles · 24/02/2016 13:19

Sadly nothing surprises me with fb anymore

Its not Facebook thats the problem, its people.

Jw35 · 24/02/2016 13:30

His name is Danny Flint. I went to his profile out of curiosity and there's loads of hideous posts like this he's shared publicly. He has over 700 followers. Knob

Happyrouter · 24/02/2016 13:44

He has 5000! And yes, his posts are horrible.
