south why so many late night ranty threads? And they do often read as goady which is why you get the responses that you get. I don't think people here have been particularly hurtful to you, they've mostly been taking the piss - it really could have gone a lot worse - yet you directly insulted another poster (sooty at the beginning of the thread.

Not everyone is aware of you and your rl problems , I'm not and I'm not saying that just to be a tit., I don't want that to read as a harsh response, it's not meant that way.

i don't have rl problems but an area where you could chat confidentially would be good. too many people on mn are now really confrontational

You know there are loads of long running threads were posters feel more encompassed and were they sometimes have a rantor moan among posters they feel they know.

I'd maybe lay off the late night postings, SEA. Don't know if you're pissed when you make them, but they often read as such. Doesn't do you any favours.

There's the sweary thread, ninja thread, night owl thread, the boring thread to name a few. They are just mainly posters chatting about random stuff, but they get to know each other. It's nice to be able to go somewhere were everybody knows your names

OP... so you would like a 'closed off' bit of MN just for you and your selected posters to be confidential? None of that reads true. I think your posts are really goady and whether you consider yourself to be 'speaking your mind', you had a go at ILoveSooty today that was uncalled for. How the hell do you know who reports you? I imagine lots of people do if that's the way you post!

I find your thread and your reasons for starting it just disingenuous, sorry. I remember your other ones too. Maybe go and start a new site somewhere and issue the invitations to the posters that you want to join you, see where you go from there.

Yes there are problems with confrontational posts on completely random and innocent threads and I think most of us would agree with that. Apart from those that are constantly confrontational themselves I guess. I don't really know what the answer to that is but I can't see how a closed off section would work. There was a thread in Site Stuff not too long ago about having a section that wouldn't allow NC, I think worra started it? I thought that was a good idea but it didn't really get an answer from MNHQ.

You get to know other posters on those threads and can have a rant or moan or just chat shit and they tend to stay very civilised as they're a smaller group of posters who have got to know one another over some time.
