Do you believe that Heely's are for girls?

My dh thinks this and doesnt think its a good idea to get them for his birthday. He really wants them. I was so shocked by his comment. The male/female thing never occurred to me. My dh says he will be laughed at. Why? They are trainers with wheels. You get them in a mix of colours. What the hell has being female/male got to do with it? It has annoyed me!
What do you think?

I think they've come back - I know an 18 yr old with some.

MitzyLeFrouf · 18/02/2016 18:07

Definitely just for girls. As are fax machines.

Clocks and watercoolers are for boys only.

I have asked my 14 and 16 year olds but they just looked Hmm So its still a no from them. But we still have the roller blades in the loft from when DS2 had a two week foray into rollerblading. Angry

DS1 had some.

DS2 wore them when DS1 grew out of them.

DD was never interested.

I would say in my local Sainsburys they are mostly worn by boys. Or maybe girls are less keen to collide with my trolley.

Ughnotagain · 18/02/2016 18:16

I don't think they should be for anyone, they're a pain in the arse.

Seriously though I don't even know why this would be an issue. They're basically shit rollerskates. And rollerskates would be fine for anyone so why not these?

Bless, make sure your dh knows that "girl" isn't catching, certainly not through footwear.

Think they are having a second wind for both sexes. I've been run into several times in the last few weeks by boys and girls wearing them in the supermarket.

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2016 18:24

IIRC the first time around some shops had signs at the door 'No Heelys'.

My two boys (7,10) love theirs wear at every opportunity.
