To spend a fiver on ds friend birthday

Ds best friend is 11 next week & they're going paintballing

I'm skint though & can't think of what to get him, there is a massive difference in income between us & them Lovely family I'm sure they're not expecting too much but what can I get that won't be embarrassing for ds (or me)?

How about giving him a £5 in a card? Some will say it's not personal, but at 11 most kids love spending money and it would be difficult to get him something half decent at that age for £5.

And don't feel bad, if they're a lovely family, they'll be happy with the gesture!

When my son gets £5 in a card, he and I are very happy.

That's fine! 5 pounds in a card would have been great for me at that age or even now At 24 TBH.

Don't buy chocolate or a crappy present for a £5 (which most would be for an eleven year old).

I would give money, or ask your DS is there a voucher for gaming etc that he would like.

How about a couple of pots of army face paint that he could use straight away at the paint balling. The instant use of the present will completely overlook the price, and he'd feel special (important) being the only one with army paint on, or he'd feel special having people asking to borrow it.

The works have some gifts 3 for £10 so could get 3 small things and then you have 2 left over, also books are often 10 for £10

£5 in a card and a box of Maltesers. Could there be any better present? No there couldn't.

Our brassic friend did cash in a card. It was DD's favorite present. And that was less than a fiver.

I read that thread and didnt really get it, but now I understand what mainsplaining means. It's when a person (must be a man) goes out of his way to help try help clarify what he means to a women.

£5 is the absolute maximum I spend on DC's friends. Not tight at all. If I spend £5 I think I've splashed out. Go to The Works, Home Bargains, even the pound shop!! They usually have Horrible Histories books for a pound!

Get something (new) on ebay? You can find many inexpensive items which you cannot easily get on the high street.

A book from Tesco and some chocolate.

Or, as others have said, voucher or cash in card.

I second £5 (either in cash or a voucher for itunes/ Microsoft points or similar), and a box of Maltesers from the pound shop, or the large bags of Haribo I think are still 50p atm.
