Is it constantly on in the background?
Or do you only turn it on mid afternoon/evening?
Are you selective with your viewing?

MY OH was recently made redundant and I am CRAVING piece and quiet. Before he was around 24/7, I would have it turned off most of the morning, but he switches the tv on at 6am and it STAYS on. all. day. long. Angry
It's as if he can't sit in a room without the box blaring away.

I like tv as much as the next person, but I HAVE to have a couple of hours piece and quiet in the house every day.
If I don't I feel stressed.
He says I'm unusual and being unreasonable.
Am I?

I don't have a TV. I watch all my telly - and I watch lots of it - online. I do have radio on a lot. What gets me about this thread is that lots of people are using their tv as radio ie audio only. Use the radio instead! It's hours of brilliant programme making designed to be listened to instead of just hearing the soundtrack of something designed to be watched.

I couldn't bear to being on all day. We only have it on when we're watching it in the evening really otherwise it drives me crackers. I can happily have radio/music on all day though.
My in-laws have the tv on constantly and if we go round they might turn the volume right down. I find this really weird, quite rude. Why not just turn it off?? It's not we can watch it while they all talk over each other. It's just there in the corner, distracting me, wondering what's going on.

We only have one tv in the 'grown ups' sitting room and by the time DH and I sit down in the evening we're both too tired to watch more than about half a film. We cancelled our Virgin package for exactly that reason - no time to watch anything!
We do have radio/music on a lot though.

I actually don't give two hoots what people do in their house in their own time, but it gives me the rage when people don't turn the tv off when they have guests.
