To go to McDonalds and ask for a gherkin burger

My DH says yes. Personally I don't feel it is a weird request and I can't be the only one who wants a fecking burger filled with gherkins with a smarter of that onion thing they do.

He is refusing to even try. I am hormonal (peri-menopausal) and craving one.

He is going to procure a grubby snack for himself and asked me if there is anything I want. So I told him. AIBU

As previous posters have said, McDonalds ran an ad about this exact scenario

UmbongoUnchained · 16/02/2016 20:34

Just before I found out I was pregnant I went subway and ordered a gherkin sub. I just needed gherkins. That should have been when it clicked really!

thecapitalsunited · 16/02/2016 20:34

Well you might not be pregnant but hormones are hormones and must be answered.

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 16/02/2016 20:35

Yadnbu OP.
I don't do Mc Donalds but could eat a full jar of gherkins quite easily at times.

Tartyflette · 16/02/2016 20:35

No, you need to get a jar of these
So you can have them on the side rather than inside the burger; that way you can have a big bite of crunchy pickle with each mouthful of gooey deliciousness burger

Worked in McDs in my teens. We had a lady come in for a chicken sandwich with big mac sauce and as many pickles as we could fit on it. For eight months, she came in at least once a day...and then the baby was born, she brought him in to show us, and we didn't see her again for ages.

Tartyflette · 16/02/2016 20:39

Also gorgeous with a ham and cheese toastie, or a tuna melt, or a hot BLT, or anything, really.

CadenceRoastingByAnOpenFire · 16/02/2016 20:39

Oh candykane I didn't know they were cucumbers either Blush Thanks for that, the things you learn on mumsnet! Grin

LadyTmalia · 16/02/2016 20:41

When I was pregnant I asked for a few and they gate me a cup full, best pregnancy moment ever (except for the gas and air) :o

PippaHotamus · 16/02/2016 20:42

My kids hate them, but the gherkin is the best bit all smashed up with the mustard and ketchup.

A burger full of them would be too much however.

A pity their veggie option is so shit and boring. I won't eat their meat, but a fucking veggie deli every single time gets OLD. Plus it has no gherkin.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 16/02/2016 20:43

If he's too embarrassed to ask, could he buy a burger and a jar of pickles and replace for you on the way back from the drive thu?

ScrambledSmegs · 16/02/2016 20:44

YADNBU. Personally I'd have mine with cheese too, but I'm a weirdo apparently. DH looks at me like Hmm when I make my favourite grilled cheese sandwich with dijon mustard and sliced cornichons.

DickDewy · 16/02/2016 20:45

I love gherkins.

I might move to the States where there is much more gherkin love. Whole aisles devoted to them in the supermarkets (slight exaggeration), big bowl of them on the tables in New York delis.

My DH made his own last summer. Not the same, not at all.

gaggiagirl · 16/02/2016 20:45

I ate a whole jar of the aldi ones for lunch last week and I'm not even preggers!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/02/2016 20:47

McDonald's gherkins are quite special though. They are the perfect balance between sweet, salty and sour with just the right amount of crunch. I am sure they have done studies Grin

Kosher dills like the ones above are much saltier and more vinegar-y so good for eating on their own. Juicier too - you wouldn't want all that pickle juice making your bun soggy...

Sweet pickles that you get in the States are gross.

My favourites are Bick's Polski Ogorki dill pickles, but I don't think they are that easy to find outside of Canada Sad

Wow I didn't realise how seriously I take my pickles / gherkins!!

Billington · 16/02/2016 20:47

Mmm gherkins, cheese, ketchup and the little chopped up onions in a burger bun

29PaddingtonSt · 16/02/2016 20:48

YANBU! I get through three large jars of gherkins a week and I'm not even pregnant! Weirdly enough I went off them when I was pregnant.

Mavisblewitt · 16/02/2016 20:49

This has literally turned on taps in my mouth (Homer Simpson uuuuuuggggghhhhh emotion)
YADNBU!!
And now I want some! 😕

ValiantMouse · 16/02/2016 20:49

There's no veggie delis now. No delis in fact- just wraps.

The spicy veggie supreme is quite tasty though.

PippaHotamus · 16/02/2016 20:55

I had one yesterday. I asked for the deluxe but got asked if I wanted the spicy or normal version, to which I replied spicy, knowing full well it would be the deli. Which it was.

hmm

TheFairyCaravan · 16/02/2016 21:00

I love gherkins.

Not long after DH and I got together I ate a whole jar in front of him. He was disgusted and very worried that I was pregnant!

CaptainHammer · 16/02/2016 21:03

This was a regular request in the mcdonalds I used to work at, at least once a day. They will definitely do it for you!

Only1scoop · 16/02/2016 21:09

Just love em' Op

Thought I was the only person in world who did.

Love when everyone goes ugh and gives them all to me

Yum Grin

StarkyTheDirewolf · 16/02/2016 21:10

I spent years thinking I didn't like them, but they are DELICIOUS! You need to get the jars from tesco. Amazing. Yanbu.

hugoagogo · 16/02/2016 21:19

i need me some gherkins
