To think its not weird to collect dolls at my age?

I'm 35 this year.

I'm a big fantasy/fairy tale/magic fan, i love fairy tales and am a big fan of Alice In Wonderland and so on, this isn't a secret, i'm a hippy/goth/rocker and my house is full of dragons and fairies, there is even a massive sun catcher sticker on my front window of a dragon

I have started collecting some of the "Ever After High" dolls recently, specifically the Gothic style ones and ones relating to Alice in Wonderland. Yes i have watched the animated web series.

My friend called me weird because i asked DH to get me a couple as they're reduced from £25 down to £10 in Smyths right now, and he bought me Raven Queen and Kitty Cheshire.

She came over today and saw i had them, still in their boxes on a shelf and asked if they were for DD and offered to take them out for her.... i of course corrected her, told her they were mine and they were NOT being taken out of their boxes. The others i own are on a display shelf in my bedroom.

Apparently, its weird, and creepy and i should give them to dd to play with.

User, i think we do too, at least i have about 5 of them in this house, we've got 2 My Little Ponies, 2 Bears and a Toothless!

Sometimes I bring my 12 year old son (who is so not interested) and make him do all the jumping around with the heart

and don't get me wrong, i AM weird, i wear that hat proud (its a crocheted Toothless hat actually) but it just bugged me that out of ALL the things to call me weird about, it was these dolls.

Ha, Trapped, my DH bought me the Lego Vampire Castle last year, its all bagged in a box with the instructions and i take it out to build it every now and again. The kids aren't allowed to touch it!

Tell her it's an investment. They will be worth a fortune in the future and help pay for your retirement.

You can collect dolls if that's what you like, none of anybody else's business.

I'm impressed that you have DC and manage to keep dolls on view and in boxes though.

Absolutely crack on, have what you enjoy! I have a toothless on my bookcase amongst a thousand books, a pile of artsy crafty stuff I play with and spent a happy couple of hours last night sorting out micro watch pieces into piles for crafty stuff.

I've just paid £100 to have my childhood teddy and dolly re stuffed and repaired OP, so I don't think you unreasonable at all. You didn't ask anyone else to pay for your dolls I assume? So tell them to feck off and mind their own business.

I'm older than you and I want the lego vampire castle to go with my haunted house! I have the dr who lego too. Also got the build a bear toothless for xmas although DD swiped it and want stormfly.

I like la la loopsy dolls too but pretend they are for DD

I bought my 35 year old DS Lego for Christmas. Friends thought that I was mad. But he loved it and promptly bought himself another set as soon as he'd finished the first one. He's kept every set he had as a child and wants to add to his collection. Neither he, nor I, could give a toss what anyone else thinks of this

Of course its not weird and your friend needs to mind her own business. Im 52 and I want a dolls house. A proper wooden one, with the dolls and all the furniture in it. Never had one when I was little and always wanted one, so DDs are going to buy me one for my birthday Im excited

They're down to £10? Must have a look (that really is for DD1, she loves the series).
Not weird at all, both my girls are into MLP and I use that as an excuse to buy alsorts 'for them'

Not only do children do it, I regularly see a woman pushing a pushchair with a cuddly toy in it, strapped in like a regular baby.

As far as I know, nobody has ever said anything about it, because it doesn't bother or harm anyone else...?
