to find pooing in the playpark unreasonable?

Just watched dumbfounded as a man hung his grand-daughter over the bench/wall thing in the middle of the playpark and just let her go! Then he tried to make a chummy joke out of it, said people would just think it was a dog, and seemed a bit huffy when I offered him a nappy/babywipes to clean it up.
I appreciate kids get caught short, but surely shitting in the middle of a playpark is a step too far?

Yadnbu. Even if mine had to do it, and there have been times when potty training and I got caught short, I always made sure I cleaned it up, the same as I'd expect a dog walker to. Blaming dog walkers just gives them a bad name, and there are plenty enough genuine dog walkers who don't clear up after themselves.

If his recently toilet trained child was caught short then he should have been carrying nappy sacks or bags in order to clean it up.

Human poo should no more be left lying for other people to step in than dog poo.

to be completely fair, he did get some sand out of the sandpit and chuck it on top ... Thanks for confirming what I thought, though - I'm not usually horrified by things but ...

yes, RudeElf, he cleaned it up when I gave him a nappy and a wipe. Not sure how thoroughly.

No YNBU, but at the risk of being flammed. While i do appriciate it is abit urgh but. If there were no toilets and the child was desperate to the point where she couldn't wait. What was he supposed to do. The fault is with the council for not having toilets available.

Yes, I know it's hard if it's an emergency - but he could easily have taken her out and gone on the beach - just a few feet away. Not ideal, but better than in a playpark, I think.

And surely if it was a dog that had just taken a dump next to the play park the owner would have bagged the poo straight up and binned it no?

I guess it's worth always having something your child can poo in until they are too big for this sort of thing. How old was the child, do you think, OP?

I suppose what that thing is will depend on what suits. Nappy bags? Puppy pad?

Either way, intending to leave it there is VILE!

I have to admit letting my 5 year old have a poo in the bushes at our local play park... He was desperate and there aren't any toilets there.

It's not a spot where anyone would be walking [or looking at]. However it's also not something I would admit to in RL because I am sure some people would say I am disgusting, minging, unhygienic.

But really, it was a case of letting DS poop in a bush [like a dog] or in his pants.

An emergency is an emergency at that age, yes. Planning to not clean it up, however, is not on. Disgusting.

I'm glad you called him on it and gave him something to clean it up with. I would like to think he would have asked for such items had no one offered it up right away.

I remember dd being 3 and shitting all down a tree in the middle of a park. She'd pulled down her knickers and done it before I even realised what was going on.

Maybe he didn't know she was about to poo?

When mine were at that toilet training stage, I didn't go anywhere without wipes, spare pants, nappy sacks and potty liners. If ever they got caught short with no loo in sight, I always had supplies to sort them out.
The potty liners were perfect for wees.

My daughter would definitely probably do this. I am never without dog poo bags for this reason even when the dog isn't with us.
