Our dog bit me :(

Yesterday our dog bit my face, completely unprovoked though he had got out unknown to us and come back in so could have been stressed. We have a toddler who is typical tough and tumble. The dog and DS get on reasonably well but dog has always been nervous around him. The dog is 10 and my husband is adamant he has to go :( I understand why but feel so terrible about losing a member of the family. He really is a quiet and sweet little dog and this was massively out of character for him. AIBU to want to keep him when he is a potential danger to my beautiful child?

OP posts:
Biscuitsinbed · 17/02/2016 20:36

Yes, it makes my skin crawl that he can talk so casually about killing/mistreating animals and then claim to 'love' children.

TheoriginalLEM · 17/02/2016 20:38

Andrew - i don't regard dogs as anywhere near equal actually, they are animals, pets and i get really frustrated when people treat them, albeit well meaningly as fur babies but trust me, not one decent person will have a kind regard for someone who has done what you did. Whether they like dogs or not. Honestly stunned and shocked by your admission and if you think it is an acceptable thing to do or merely foolish, then you clearly are hard of thinking.

Poverty - Can't help but wonder if he doesn't sit wanking over posts on here - you really have no idea of what sort of perverts and sick fucks are posting on here do you.

Greyhorses · 17/02/2016 20:41

I agree with poverty

My dogs are equal to some people, they are certainly less malicious and cruel than some. Infact I prefer them to the majority of people in general Wink

JessicaRuby · 17/02/2016 20:43

Yes, vile old man joins mumsnet to campaign against dogs as pets and talk about how much he loves kids. Can MNHQ ban people for being creepy fuckers Grin

TheoriginalLEM · 17/02/2016 20:51

I have reported the hairy handed fuckers' post, he has admitted to a crime after all.

Biscuitsinbed · 17/02/2016 20:59

As long as he is banned rather than just the post being removed. Otherwise it should stand to let others know.

JessicaRuby · 17/02/2016 21:06

Here's a screenshot of the original post if that helps HQ make a decision - truly disturbing.

Furiosa · 17/02/2016 21:10

Hang on as abhorrent as that is did Andrew kill the dog or dump it? Or did he kill it by dumping it?

Furiosa · 17/02/2016 21:11

No, wait! I see he's already admitted killing it.

Fucking hell...

BorderTerrierControl · 17/02/2016 21:14

Andrew, surely the reactions you had from your original post in the chat confessions thread was enough to show you that most people, dog lovers or not, are going to think there's something really off about a person who sticks their neighbour's dog in a bag and then drives it out into the woods and dumps it. Particularly when said person cheerfully and proudly recounts the subsequent distress of the owner who was 'completely dependent' on their pet.

It's not a case of people disliking you because they think dogs are above people (although you do seem to believe you are superior to anyone that has recently been within 100 yards of a dog). Killing people's pets and taking joy in people's grief is just not normal, human behaviour.

Zariyah · 17/02/2016 21:21

Holy shit, that is fucked up. It's creepy that he posts on all the dog threads too.

Slippersandacuppa · 17/02/2016 21:21

Good grief, I don't even have the words to express what I felt reading your posts, Andrew

I hope you've just written what comes to mind to shock other mners. I doubt it. Your poor, poor neighbour. No other way of dealing with that situation then? Nothing came to mind? Actually, I have loads of words but don't usually swear. I'll leave you with one. Karma.

OP, for what it's worth, I would be heartbroken if that happened with either of my dogs. I would feel I owed it to them to get a full health assessment before making any un-doable decisions. I've spent too much time think the 'if onlys' and they are pure torture. Make sure you've covered all the bases.

Good luck and I hope for the best possible outcome for you all.

MrBensMrs · 17/02/2016 21:22

No Andrew, dogs are definitely not equal to your species dude! Thank god they're a million times better - I'd take a dog who might bite over a sociopathic killer like you anyway Smile

Well there's a disturbing twist to the thread Confused

gooseberryroolz · 17/02/2016 21:36

Wow Shock

kali110 · 17/02/2016 21:50

I'm not even a dog owner but i would be ashamed if my son/daughter did that.
Please andrew you were not a child.
Completely sick.
I would be ashamed if i found out my parents did that, i would never see them the same way again.
No, not all dogs are a danger to people, def not as much as some sick people!
I would def rather treat my animals like people instead of having to share the world with dispicable people.

Mn won't ban him, they don't give a fuck about animal abuse, they never do.

ClarenceTheLion · 17/02/2016 22:04

To be honest, reading this thread I was imagining a Staffy or German Shepherd...

A bitey Chihuahua definitely isn't suitable to be in a home with a child, but he's not going to kill an adult, to state the obvious, and I'd explore other options before putting him to sleep. In a quiet home with an experienced owner who understands highly strung toy dogs he might have years of good quality life left. Contact Dogs Trust.

Furiosa · 17/02/2016 22:22

Clarence I thought that from the first post but didn't want to say as I know nothing about dogs.

I definite think the OP needs to remove the dog from her home though. Sounds like it could cause a serious facial injury to a child.

This dog could be at the end of it's life or have another eight years! I hope the OP took it to the vets to rule out any health issues that might have caused the change in behaviour. I'm really not a dog person but I thought chihuahuas were bitey like most small dogs? Totally unsuitable around little children but good for old ladies who want to keep certain people away?

Furiosa · 17/02/2016 22:25

definite - meant definitely. Doh!

Furiosa

"most" small dogs aren't bitey. Poorly trained, poorly socialised ones with fear aggression can be though. As with all dogs.

private sorry no he is never nice on an animal thread. I don't hate people who dislike animals, but to kill one, revel in it, say revolting things about them and belittle people who clearly love their pets, that is sick. He is not a nice person.

Furiosa · 17/02/2016 22:40

Alisvolatpropiis Sorry for the generalisation. I thought it was about temperament like hot bloodied and cold bloodies horses.

I honestly thought wee dog were acceptably as bites as cats!

Now I know differently.
