It's a revelation!

I'm a convert and am spending 2-3 hours a night decluttering, thanking things for their use and their service, and binning them letting them go.

It's so utterly freeing and pleasing.

I've hated my house and it's complete inability to be clean and tidy for YEARS and this is making me think I can actually live somewhere peaceful and lovely.

Thanks to this thread I have bought the book.
My wardrobe and drawers were bursting, now they're half full. And beautifully folded.
I have got rid of half my stuff and i have never felt more relieved.
Next stop is household stuff.
Dd (3) flatly refuses to give up anything. I shall have to wait until next Christmas and say santa can't come as there's no room.
I have a clutter free bedroom.
Bliss.
DH is under strict instructions to sort his shit or I will. And I am ruthless.

Ijust I didn't say anything to DH but after a week and after he'd seen his underwear drawer that I did for him as a little taster, he just started sorting his stuff. I now have a very stiff neck and sore knees. i think from spending several hours a day for the last week on the floor bent over sorting! A price worth paying!

I was browsing in the charity shop today and realised exactly how much stuff I'd chucked! I kept coming across my clothes and books and was pleased with the prices on them. One boden gold cardi I'd kept for going out but never actually wore as it has a scratchy feel was priced at £14!

It's like I donated £100s to Save the Children Smile

It's really a win win, because I wouldn't donate that sort of money to the refugee crisis as we haven't loads to spare, but I have plenty of stuff to donate.

The house is looking better, and even feels better. I've still got plenty to do before its done.

My garden needs a kondo too, the bulbs are struggling to be seen through the dead stuff from the winter...

EponasWildDaughter · 18/03/2016 20:35

I had a lull for a month - my mind sort of rebelled against it all after i'd done clothes, dvds, games and books. But now i'm back at it and have done papers (O.M.G ... Had to have an actual fire in the back garden to get rid as the shredder would have just exploded with it all) and have begun the hobby/miscellaneous/ornament/sentimental catagory. This is the largest catagory for me, and was the hardest to face. Because of the size of it mainly, and because i'm finding it hard to split the things into their catagories. I have ornamental things which are also sentimental and hobby related! arrggh.

It's taking ages to do, but each time i spend a hour or two at it (depending on how long DD naps for) i get rid of a good amount of stuff and make a significant amount of new space in the cupboard or under the bed or wherever. A space i'm determined not to fill again!

Can anyone tell me which of the books is best?

There are two I can see on Amazon.
