I put a link earlier but I'll redo it Pad Collective B/S/T this is a group of amazing sellers, I recommend all their work

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 20:09

That link didn't work for me X X

Why is cloth soaked with blood any worse than cloth soaked with wee?

Not for me - I can't keep on top of the laundry, as it is - but I don't see the point of being so damned childish about it.

SingingSamosa · 07/02/2016 20:12

I switched to cloth san-pro a few years ago, as I kept having allergic reactions to disposable towels, and I haven't been able to use tampons since having the kids (or my old Diva cup). I have an exceptionally heavy flow - to the point that I am severely anaemic - and these cloth ones work very well for me. They are comfortable and VERY absorbent! I ordered mine from the US (but can't remember the name of the lady who makes them). They are bamboo velour, fleece backed, and have a layer of Zorb inside. They never leak and they don't smell!

seafoodeatit · 07/02/2016 20:13

If you don't like the idea of reusable pads then you won't like family cloth (aka reusable toilet paper, though must admit I've never known anyone who actually uses them). Women have used cloth pads longer than they've used disposables, they're better in that they have no chemicals and I would probably try them if I didn't have such heavy flow.

Imnotaslimjim · 07/02/2016 20:15

Sorry, didn't realise it was a busted link. Try again pad collective

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 07/02/2016 20:15

I have three jam sponges and a little waterproof bag, if I need to change in a public loo then i do so the same as in would with a tampon but put the sponge in the bag and take it home to wash. I LOVE my jam sponges.

As for staying over with a gentleman, I've been married 15 years so if he can't put up with my sponges by now, we've no chance... ;)

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 20:16

Um I didn't think I was being childish. I was just posing the question. I don't particularly enjoy cloth soaked with wee either (who the f**k does????) perhaps I have been blessed, when potty training I didn't have many wee soaked pants, kids have rarely wet the bed (probably a total of 10 times in 9yrs of parenting) and when pooey pants came home I chucked them. Rarely had pooey pants at home as both were very good at using the toilet. Not smug just lucky!!

Karaokequeen I am tempted by the jam sponges!!!! Perhaps backed up with cloth pads??

Oh but I use reusable nappies with both children fine, but ordered some reusable pads and found them rubbish. The popper underneath supposedly holding in place I could feel when I sat down and they just slid out of place so they were right at the front or back but not in the middle..

RudeElf · 07/02/2016 20:19

aka reusable toilet paper, though must admit I've never known anyone who actually uses them

Maybe i shouldnt admit this but we have this. Well actually its only DS2 who uses it. It started out as the resuable wipes for when my babies were in cloth nappies. And then they came out of nappies and i still had all these cloths so when DS2 was struggling to clean himself properly i decided to use the cloths damp as they clean really well. DS still struggles so he still uses them. He cleans with toilet roll first and then will use one of his cloths damp for a final proper clean.

GruntledOne · 07/02/2016 20:25

Also who doesn't wash their towels after each use???? I have a clean towel for every shower

Why, don't you wash properly when you shower?

RudeElf · 07/02/2016 20:26

Ahhh! And so it begins. Grin

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 20:29

Oh good grief yes I do wash properly however I like the feel of a fresh towel and I don't have much drying space so my damp used towels can go a bit musty in the winter. Sorry for causing a shit storm!!

Thanks Art, sounds easy enough!

Have been having a squizz at the Jam Sponges - surely you'd need more than two? I couldn't get on with the Mooncup either, there's just no way that's fitting in there!

OttiliaVonBCup · 07/02/2016 20:35

Who the fuck washes towels after every use?

madness.

elliejjtiny · 07/02/2016 20:41

I love my cloth sanpro. I have fleece and minkee ones and they feel so soft. I find they slip and bunch up less too.

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 20:44

Maybe cause I'm a laundry slut and don't wash my stuff very often so therefore need more clothes/towels etc so I don't smell like an unwashed skank. Cause I am a washed skank!!

OP posts:
Ambroxide · 07/02/2016 20:52

I don't wash my towels after every use because it is really shit for the planet and it's not necessary. If you are going to save the planet one sanitary towel at a time, you might also want to look into the planetary costs of washing things that aren't even dirty.

(yes, I know, we are going down that well-trodden road, but really)

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 21:02

Ok I will try and be brave. I have now got to the point where my boys wear their school uniform for two days and pjs for two days (this hurts me and my ocd in this region!!!) however play clothes are fresh every day!!!! Omg I'm not green at all!!!!

Well made cloth sanpro (Or Moon pads or Mama pads or whatever) is wonderful. I had a lot with black velour on top and a small press stud to hold them in place, I threw them in the nappy bucket and washed them with DD's nappies. So much nicer than the eczema rash that always managed to reduce me too.
All I can say is, thank go for menopause, I only need stuff every 3 to 6 months. Fingers crossed I'm done forever.
I bought lots online through the sale pages on www.diaperswappers.com theres an international part for sales in Europe.

Ambroxide · 07/02/2016 21:40

Children aren't smelly like adults are. Play or school clothes for a couple of days just isn't an issue unless they tip yoghurt down themselves or something (and even then if it isn't much, you can just sponge it off). Even as an adult, you only need the layers closest to your skin washed every time - for me, underwear, camisole/vest if worn, T shirt. Jeans or jumpers can go several days if I haven't spilt something on myself or similar. I am honestly neither smelly nor dirty!

nearlyreadytopop · 07/02/2016 21:41

I am a recent (6 month) convert to the Sckoon cup. It is flipping amazing. No more cramps, no more irritation, no more nighttime nappy towel wearing. I honestly didn't think it would be a good as it is.
