Reusable sanitary towels.....with pretty designs. No one seems to want to register that these beautiful cloth thingys will be saturated with blood?! Any way discuss!!

Ooh if we're starting a towel debate I'm putting the kettle on and getting comfy GrinGrin

RudeElf · 07/02/2016 19:39

Business opportunity for you OP! Grin

Haha the blood splatter patterns are pretty common

reusable gone bonkers!!!
Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 19:46

I know but it's a lot of blood. And I live with boys. Not another female for miles!!!!! Also the towel debate....use a fresh one every time you shower. Or at the most use the same one twice. Use a second towel for face/hair. During period DO NOT USE THE WHITE TOWELS!!!! Or because I live with boys who are gross (last seen trying to out fart each other) always have brown towels.

Oh I like the blood spatter ones!!

I have some with love hearts (the sweets) on. It makes me smile during my otherwise hateful monthly periods.

I wash them with everything else. I also use a jam sponge - that's very up close and personal with the monthly visitor but I do love them and I rarely have any period pain these days...

RudeElf · 07/02/2016 19:48

always have brown towels.

Grin

I've just realised that people probably think i have brown towels because we dont clean our arses properly! Shock we only have brown because they were all on offer in tesco 10 years ago when i was moving into my first home and was skint!

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 19:49

A jam sponge??? Will Google. Also what happens if you need to change it on the go??? Or heaven forbid if I'm sleeping over with a gentleman caller Blush

I was thinking of running some of these up. And also making some all-over-padded period pants for nighttime. It doesn't matter how long or be-winged commercial pads are, they always leak for me. Do stains come out easily or should I just go with dark fabrics? And how hot do you wash them?

nutellacrumpet · 07/02/2016 19:50

I love my mooncup. I never got on with tampons so getting the hang of using a mooncup as revolutionised life for me!

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 19:50

I would definitely be interested in all over padded nighttime pants!!! (Oh how my sex appeal will rocket!!) also rudeElf brown towels hide a multitude of sins when you have boys!!

NiNoKuni · 07/02/2016 19:53

All-over period pants would be the very height of sexiness, of course Wink

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 19:54

It's ok my DP is used to the gas, vomit and general nastiness that comes with my monthlies. A snuggly pair of padded pants to spoon would probably be welcome!! Could you make them filter period gas too???

I have unicorns and rainbows. Even some with glitter on. Really make me smile when I'm feeling crap. My favourites are velour topped, they're so soft they feel lovely just when you're feeling your most sensitive

The cloth pad community is huge, Pad Collective B/S/T this is a facebook page of a group of makers that sell online

Artandco · 07/02/2016 19:55

Always wash blood out with cold water first as hot sets stains. Same with any stain or baby poo.
So in machine and on cold rinse first, then put detergent in and on 60 degree cycle

When we used reusable nappies we had a mesh liner in a lidded bin in bathroom so the nappies went in there. When full just lift whole mesh liner bag out and whole thing in machine. That way you don't actually have to touch anything dirty.

You would need enough to have in wash and still use whilst they dried. So however many on average you would use a day, double it plus spares

For nappies we used around 8 in 24 hrs. So had 30 nappies which allowed for 16 in the wash every 2 days, plus enough to wear that day they washed and dried, plus spare incase they used more that day for whatever reason and spares in bag to take out.

RudeElf · 07/02/2016 19:56

I have two boys but i'm not convinced either of them bother to dry themselves after the bath Hmm Grin

Thebookswereherfriends · 07/02/2016 20:01

Just read about jam sponges, anyone else use them? Can anyone do a comparison of them and mooncups? I really want to move to reusable monthly protection, but am just not sure about mooncups!

Goingtobeawesome · 07/02/2016 20:01

Can anyone recommend washable pads please? I mean a stockist.

Whyisitalwaysblue · 07/02/2016 20:01

Seems like a big outlay. I'd need about 30 I think?! Just in case lol.

I am totally converted to csp. Much more comfortable and no obnoxious rustling. Easy to clean, rinse under cold tap then wash at 30 with other underwear/pjs.

I find them much more comfortable and have less pain with them, I think I read it's because they don't have the chemicals that disposable ones have to soak up liquid so they interfere less with your body's flow.

MadisonMontgomery · 07/02/2016 20:06

I buy mine from Honour Your Flow. Really comfy & well-made, plus they don't seem to get stained - I don't soak them before washing, they just go in the laundry bin with everything else (but I'm not generally very heavy)

DangerMouth · 07/02/2016 20:06

Can anyone recommend a brand?
