Ok silly thread I know but while trawling the Internet in the early hours this morning while on night feeds with ds I came across a NM thread and seeing those lilypie things they have that come up on EVERY message they post makes me cringe/angry/ask what is the bloody point ... AIBU or do you also find them ridiculous?!

Bloody hell, how do those pregnancy tickers work? It must be incredibly hurtful if you've had a miscarriage to come back onto NM and find something gleefully recording that you've clocked up another week of pregnancy.

ZiggyFartdust · 02/02/2016 14:05

Also, OP, that is far too many exclamation marks for MN. Makes one sound hysterical.

I am of the mind that you seek what you need from whatever site you visit.

If you want support, you go one way, if you want criticism, you go the other.

The sparkly breastfeeding badge is the best one.

EponasWildDaughter · 02/02/2016 14:26

Thank you bam.

I think i could cope with the sparklies i've actually had a ticker myself once. A pregnancy one. It was a pregnancy forum. It was just for fun.

The main attraction for MN for me is the pace of it though. I would hate slow threads. I like the cut and thrust of MN.

An AIBU about NetMums started on Mumsnet. Confused

Bambambini · 02/02/2016 14:50

Epona - an example would be the Trans issue. There is one thread I can see over there regarding trans (the Olympic) issues with about 40 replies. When Bowie died there was maybe one or two treads with a mere handful of replies. The cologne attacks got a thread with a few pages of replies. Often the moderators actually have to start threads of "news" events to try to get some kind of debate going.

Compare how all these issues were talked about on Mumsnet.

Usual - I agree in that I've always thought there is "Mumsnet world" and then there is the real world. I just find Netmums very limited in debate territory and quite dull in comparison to here. I do like some of the posters over there very much though (and I don't feel so thick over there and pressurised to conform to accepted Mumsnet think).
