Ok silly thread I know but while trawling the Internet in the early hours this morning while on night feeds with ds I came across a NM thread and seeing those lilypie things they have that come up on EVERY message they post makes me cringe/angry/ask what is the bloody point ... AIBU or do you also find them ridiculous?!

Woman married to a gimpy husband and mum to a cute baby... GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy

Girls and ladies in one post? Sod off.

fluffypenguinbelly · 02/02/2016 12:29

Girls, ladies and a kiss. I would say you are one Hun away from your own sparkly ticker!

OhShutUpThomas · 02/02/2016 12:32

Calm down now huns.

multivac · 02/02/2016 12:34

I think it's adorable how all the parenting forums think they are everso different from all the other parenting forums.

They really, really ain't.

I think the founder or something of netmums was on radio 4 the other day. I was only half listening, but she kept talking about mummy friends. Enough to confirm that nm is not for me, but each to their own I guess.

LeanneBattersby · 02/02/2016 12:47

Can someone please explain what a lilypie is. There's no way I'm going over there to look.

firesidechat · 02/02/2016 12:48

It's so in your face bright on NM. That alone is what stopped me from joining. I like the recipes though, particularly the bakes. If you scroll down to the comments people give some great tips on how to fiddle with the recipes to make them in to something a bit different.

Might have to sneak in and grab a few recipes though.

pictish · 02/02/2016 12:53

I like both sites for different reasons.
NM posters are more honest about themselves than posters here imo. They have much less of a stick up their bums when it comes to parenting for starters.

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 02/02/2016 13:00

I liked your joke arf (But I've seen Life of Brian more times than is healthy...)

Bambambini · 02/02/2016 13:09

"I think it's adorable how all the parenting forums think they are everso different from all the other parenting forums.

I use both sites. They really are quite different - (if you are looking for a much deeper and wider range of topics that are debated) amongst other things.

ophiotaurus · 02/02/2016 13:10

Girls? Really?

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 02/02/2016 13:11

I want to go and watch Life of Brian now.

x2boys · 02/02/2016 13:19

Very true pictish I use both sites not sure how too get glittery tickers Confusedthere's not as much stealth boasting on Nm about how fabulously clever their dc are but I don't like being deleted for having an opinion and they seem to delete randomly lots of ignorant , disabiliSt comment allowed to stand but other opnions deleted .

Wardy1993 · 02/02/2016 13:28

Wow you lot are brutal!!! All good and apparently I've offended a lot of u by saying girls... Sorry again !!!

Use the Netmums app to avoid all the colours and whatnot. The only downside is there isn't a bookmark option.

NM'ers aren't as twee as they are portrayed to be.

FarrowandBallAche · 02/02/2016 13:34

This place reminds me of NM these days.
In fact I would probably like it better over there.

pictish · 02/02/2016 13:39

They are nothing like as twee as they are portrayed on here. They seem...normal. Unlike here which is batshit. But that's why I love it here.

pictish · 02/02/2016 13:42

I find mumsnet more informative though. I have learned more here.

ouryve · 02/02/2016 13:46

The pregnancy tickers are the best.

2.5 weeks pregnant. Only 37.5 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or more like 33.5 for thos convinced the baby should be out at 36 weeks cos that's "term", innit)

EponasWildDaughter · 02/02/2016 13:56

Is MN talked about over there as much as NM is talked about here? And if so, what do they say?

'That mumsnet ... Bunch of vipers and no sparkly bits'.

? Genuine Q.

Bambambini · 02/02/2016 14:03

We are nasty and rude and bullies and vulgar as there is so much swearing (that also means that we are can't win an arguement with just our intellect so we are a bit thick).

There are some nice posters though and your voice can be heard more as there seems to be a lot less posters and threads can be very slow and few and far between - unlike the whirlwind ruckass that can be Mn.

OwlCurrency · 02/02/2016 14:04

Oof, are we not slagging off NM anymore? But we need to unite over a common enemy!

This place has changed. Ixnay on the peace and love!
