Link to petition above. Seriously worrying this man has a public forum and following.

IloveCheese11 · 01/02/2016 18:16

Thanks for the petition Pillow. Signed.

Aeroflotgirl · 01/02/2016 18:18

There are no words Angry, yes he should be banned as he is advocating violence, he should be arrested.

BonitaFangita · 01/02/2016 18:18

A part of me agrees with you wasonthelist
I think a great deal of these people's notoriety comes from the fact they can claim no freedom of speech and 'the feminazais have one' and other such crap. It would be interesting to see these guys in proper open debate without their saddo disciples hanging on their every word.
My guess is they'd tie them selves up in knots and show themselves for the deluded losers they really are

Owllady · 01/02/2016 18:20

Yes ican, I can remember someone similar too. Who was it? He def got his show/tour cancelled after public pressure
He was on about grabbing women's heads and sticking them in his crotch [anger] and yes, it's bloody worrying they have followings. Wtf is the matter with people?#

Elledouble · 01/02/2016 18:24

Oh, vom. What an absolute wankstain. I see there's a Scotland petition, there must be a wider one?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/02/2016 18:27

There have also been a couple of counter protest events organised in Edinburgh & Glasgow...

CultureSucksDownWords · 01/02/2016 18:38

I think that his pro violent rape comments could be looked at as inciting hate and violence against women. I find it sickening how he refers to women as if they are objects to be used, as opposed to real human beings.

What worries me is how popular his show will be, and so how many men are similarly pro-rape.

ElizabethLemon · 01/02/2016 18:42

This man is truly sickening.

I've seen there are events in Scotland and Manchester to protest his presence. Anyone know if there is going to be similar in London?

I can't believe that this man is allowed to come here and spread his violent, disturbing views while others are silenced for much less.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 01/02/2016 18:48

Heres a link to the petition on change.org, don't think anyone's mentioned that one yet:

www.change.org/p/theresa-may-deny-julien-blanc-a-uk-visa/u/15241786?tk=dzEJRwG8poBwM4Txj86kGTvEBfEk02-y51dwG-uV7w0&utm_source=petition_update&utm_medium=email

I'm so appalled by this odious individual.

venusinscorpio · 01/02/2016 18:53

But if we want for ourselves the freedom to speak out we need to defend that freedom for everyone.

Dapper Laughs was harassing real women in the street, I don't see it as a free speech issue. You shouldn't be able to say obscene things to random women for fun and make them uncomfortable and get away with it, or incite your fans to do so.

Julien Blanc posted various videos inciting sexual assault and domestic violence.

Roosh incites his followers to physically and mentally invade women's boundaries and did actually write about raping women, as I said (in his Bang Iceland guide, google tells me)

I think free speech is incredibly important and must be protected at almost all costs, but there is a line. If someone was directly inciting harassment of any other group such as trans people I would feel exactly the same. If unfunny, attention seeking little prick Dapper Laughs had stuck to his hilarious rape jokes in his stand up show I agree that however horrible it is still free speech but his videos and show crossed the line for me.

Owllady · 01/02/2016 19:10

Yes, it was Julian Blanc I was thinking about. Bastard

PausingFlatly · 01/02/2016 19:11

Like others, I'm conflicted about no-platforming.

But what on earth would be the legal situation if he did come here? Sounds like he's admitted a crime in another country, and is planning to stand in the UK advocate committing crimes?

What does UK law have to say about this?

Cloppysow · 01/02/2016 19:36

Yeah. He's a fucking tool.

He reckons rape should be legal on private property as a way of stopping rape from happening, because if women know it can happen, they won't put themselves in that position. Apparently all we're doing by teaching men not to rape is teaching women not to protect themselves.

AyeAmarok · 01/02/2016 19:42

Yes, he should be banned. Teresa May banned a pick up artist previously, didn't she?

If anyone wants a reason to despair at how some people think, Roosh V's Forum ought to do it... Hmm

AyeAmarok · 01/02/2016 19:46

Ah yes, it was Julian Blanc. Twat.

Same rules should apply here, I think.

sashh · 02/02/2016 06:49

If this guy incited violence (I have no intention of reading his publications to find out) then I'm all for stamping down on him. But if he's just saying unsavoury things he should not be silenced. Free speech is essential to a progressive society and that includes free speech for people we don't like. (I did not support the campaign against Dapper Laughs fwiw.)

He thinks rape should be legalised on private property and has told men to 'stop asking' - I'd say that was inciting violence.

HelpfulChap · 02/02/2016 06:53

I'd like to incite violence against him.

MidniteScribbler · 02/02/2016 08:51

I was listening to this on the radio today at lunch. Disgusting excuse for a human being. Some quote about 'fat chicks' and not to waste your time with them. Why do people allow dickheads like this to open their vile mouths and get airtime?

Apparently the minister responsible has said that he will not get a visa to Australia.

Greydog · 02/02/2016 13:16

I have just been looking at that forum. I really wish that I hadn't - I feel sick now. Such contempt for women.

WorriedMutha · 02/02/2016 13:33

I had never heard of this idiot until now but I would prefer to see a media blackout than to have this debate. This only ever succeeds in getting more publicity, notoriety and coverage. He should be ignored.

splendide · 02/02/2016 13:35

Hopefully the police will investigate and if he's committed a crime act accordingly. I agree that trying to shut him down otherwise is what he wants, it's publicity for his horrible show.

venusinscorpio · 02/02/2016 15:25

The police here can't investigate as the crime Roosh alleges he committed was in Iceland and no one knows who the victim was. The UK can refuse him a visa, and did do so in the case of Julien Blanc.

An online petition to deny Blanc entry to the United Kingdom was also initiated in November.[19] Blanc had reportedly already given a series of seminars in London during September 2014,[32] and was scheduled for two return visits to London in late 2014 and early 2015.[15][32] Alleging that permitting Blanc into the country “legitimises sexual assault and predation” and that his pick-up techniques “directly exploit vulnerable men who buy into rape culture and end up believing that this is an appropriate way to behave,” shadow home secretary (Labour) Yvette Cooper called upon Home Secretary Theresa May to deny Blanc entry to the country.[33] Under paragraph 320 of the Immigration Rules, the Home Secretary can refuse any visa "on general grounds because of a person’s background, behaviour, character, conduct or associations."[34] The UK denied Blanc a visa on November 19, 2014.[6]

from wikipedia link I posted upthread.

PausingFlatly · 02/02/2016 16:20

Pity he can't be investigated for that here.

In that case, if he fulfils the same criteria as the previous promoter of rape, I guess non-entry is the way to go.
