Well done for running.

PhilPhilConnors · 01/02/2016 13:30

LEM, can you link me the trainers. I have a friend who has a wobbly ankle and refuses to do a lot of stuff because of it. Would love to know what these trainers are, let her know they are out there.

GarlicBake · 01/02/2016 13:38

Keep at it, LEM Grin Breathe through your nose (unless it's blocked up, obvs.)

I've uploaded it for you, Phil. Download it, I can't guarantee I'll keep it online.

SonjasSister7 · 01/02/2016 13:44

Ooh garlic I like that! So pleased you had a good run LEM . I have never actually run 5k (my circuit is just about 4) -- so you have inspired me to try a bit further this afternoon as I don't (currently) even have a dodgy ankle...So thanks!

BlackEyedPeas · 01/02/2016 13:51

the only way is to pray to God

LetThereBeCupcakes · 01/02/2016 13:51

Hope things are Ok OP.

Re the wobbly ankle - I had that. GP referred me to a podiatrist and I had special insoles made to straighten my feet. It's made such a difference to me.

ChopOrNot · 01/02/2016 14:09

Well done for the run. One of the best immediate reliefs for anxiety. My therapist told me it was something to do with adrenaline/fight/flight cortisol. Vigorous activity dissipates the hormones as you have physically mimicked fighting or fighting (word?).

Though to be honest, having run, on a beach in this wind it was probably fuck all to do with hormones and just downtown all of your functions being blown out of you body and out to sea.

WaitrosePigeon · 01/02/2016 14:13

Oh god you have my sympathy. I have days like this too. Are you ok now?

TheoriginalLEM · 01/02/2016 20:47

I do often pray to God, it does help actually, so thanks for that suggestion its a good reminder :)

Merry, im not sure its a wobbly ankle i have, i think its called over pronating??? Very common, we all have slightly different gaits, i had my gait analysed in a running shop, on a treadmill with a computor and camera. This was a small independent but you can it done in several big sports shops. The caveat being is the guy in the small independent actually knew what he was doing rather than a student sales person who knows what button to press. So he did the computor thing then watched me run in several pairs of trainers.

My trainers are made by brooks which apparently is a good running shoe, they were £115 Shock which is more than i have ever paid for a pair of shoes in my life, but it was money well spent - however i have just seen the same pair online for £67. Have just looked on their website and am lusting after a new pair but i can't afford them or justify them as mine are only 6 months old.

Feel a bit better now, have spoken to DD1 (she lives wiht her DP but tht isn't going well :( ) and she is ok, DP home from work and DD2 here. The underlying anxiety is still there but manging to relax

Ah but, if you had nice new trainers then you could alternate wearing them and they wouldn't get worn out so quickly... And it might inspire you to run more? (Obviously only take my advice if you have a spare 67 pounds not needed for bills etc)

I think you're bloody brilliant for running 5k. I'm the same size as you and I was super proud of myself for walking 2.5 miles last week. I can't imagine running unless it was to escape lava/a bear.

IDismyname · 02/02/2016 17:27

I meant to check back on this thread yesterday to see how you were. LEM.

I hope you're feeling a bit less anxious today.

and.... RESPECT for your run and the distance!
