To think you DON'T take the money before you deliver the shopping?

Bloody Tesco. Haven't turned up with my food delivery but checking my bank account, they've taken the payment and in my Tesco account it shows the order as having been completed. Can't phone them because they close at 22.00 on Sunday. No messages, no contact and I have to get dd up early tomorrow to get to shop for stuff for tea tomorrow night. I can't go during the day as on a school trip with dd and can't go straight from school as we have a child coming from school with us, for a play date who has significant additional needs and can't be dragged round the shop buying groceries for an hour of the play date.

It's just really stressed me out tbh, it's the one time I really needed things to go smoothly.

Im not a twat but i see you're very angry about the situation.

For that I'm sorry.

An order from a huge company is a day late.

It happens.

Mustgetmynailsdone · 01/02/2016 01:38

I understand
I get it
Honestly I do
My son is autistic , hugely easier to reason with him now he is older but when he was small it was a potential nightmare if he had the wrong sort of bread in his lunchbox sandwich or the wrong grand of fishfingers
You can't imagine unless you have been there I think

So tescos take the money out your account for a big weekly shop,
But no food ?
I am a single mum ... There have been plenty of times when I probably would not have had the money in my account to spend on more food tommorrow morning

Bake62 .... This IS a biggie
Nikki .. Please try to get some sleep
Ring tesco in the morning . Tell them 2 kids with asd . Delivery by lunchtime please

Let us know
Lots of us give a monkeys ok my love x

Mustgetmynailsdone · 01/02/2016 01:39

Need go to bed

Bake62 · 01/02/2016 01:41

Im a single parent
I dont rely on a shop being there on the dot.
I have supplies in case.

buddhasbelly · 01/02/2016 02:04

Well aren't you just fantastic bake...

leghoul · 01/02/2016 02:10

This would make me very cross and I'd never order from there again. It's a nightmare getting to shops with my DC and impossible to get anywhere in the mornings on the way - if shopping didn't turn up I would be sending in without correct food for packed lunch, and it would matter.

NickiFury · 01/02/2016 02:42

You're a single parent. Do you have two disabled children? Are you going on a school trip and hosting a play date straight afterwards tomorrow? Did you spend the whole day ferrying your other child to the only childcare he can go to so that you can accompany your child on previously mentioned school trip? No?

Then it doesn't take much imagination to see why your "not a big deal" might actually be a very big deal to someone else.

I won't respond to you on here again as I suspect you're just a GF and I try never to give them the attention they crave.

Well you have my sympathy! I don't even have the same circumstances as you and I'd be fuming. Hope it gets sorted out and Tesco send you something as an apology Flowers

PageStillNotFound404 · 01/02/2016 04:27

I get it OP. You were relying on a process that should have gone smoothly, no reason for it not to, and now that it hasn't it's going to put you to a lot of extra inconvenience and make an already-tiring day even more frazzled for you.

I hope you get it sorted ASAP and I hope your DCs enjoy their activities today. Flowers

MaitlandGirl · 01/02/2016 04:32

What a nightmare - hopefully you can rearrange delivery for when you're at home, although during the play date isn't ideal.

The major supermarket here lets you pay at the door with your card using their mobile card thingies. It makes life so much easier and you only get charged for what's been delivered.

HermioneJeanGranger · 01/02/2016 05:10

I hope things sort themselves out Thanks

For future reference, though, you could have caller the store. It might close to the public early but there are always night staff in who can try and handle your query and contact the driver, or pass it on to manager in the morning if necessary.

mumofmunchkin · 01/02/2016 05:24

Do complain, we got lots of vouchers when they failed to deliver And I complained.

Bubblesinthesummer · 01/02/2016 05:32

I am surprised to hear that about Asda Blondie. I have had an Asda delivery nearly every week for years, and they never take the payment out beforehand - it is usually two days afterwards!

So have I. They take it on the morning before delivery. May not show in your account until a few days later but it is taken the same day.

If they didn't what would happen if they had delivered your goods and then payment didn't go through fr whatever reason?

Niki I hope you get it sorted.

Pteranodon · 01/02/2016 05:32

How the frig could she keep spare crunchy fresh green salad in, Bake?

OP, if Ocado deliver in your area try them next time, they're similar price to Tesco (though more fancy stuff is available so it is easier to spend more than you need). Their customer service is really good.

SanityClause · 01/02/2016 05:49

I second switching to Ocado. I have used them for years. They rarely deliver outside the hour time slot they give you, and always telephone to let you know if that's going to happen. They take payment the day after delivery. They have a price match thing with tesco, where they give you a voucher if your shopping would have been cheaper at Tesco. I rarely get this, and actually, I usually get an email to say I have saved a few pounds, based on Tesco prices.

I know this doesn't help you today, though. Is there any possibility of buying something out and about on the school trip?

EasterRobin · 01/02/2016 05:56

You have my sympathy OP. That sounds like a right pain in the arse that could have been so easily avoided if Tesco had called you. I would think most drivers would work an extra 20mins if they knew how important it was for you to get it (I don't know if they have the option, but setting it up for collection if they really didn't have time to deliver would also make sense). Just not turning up and marking it as delivered... I would be fuming.

Cocacolaandchocolate · 01/02/2016 06:12

Op I completely understand. Asda did this to us. I was so pissed off.
I get the not being able to do supermarket shopping I have 3 children 3 and under and shopping is a no no. Hope tesco sort this quickly for you. H switched to tesco after asda did this and have found tescos customer service excellent

LumpySpacedPrincess · 01/02/2016 06:28

Sada used to take the money twice, one actual payment and one ghost payment that dropped off after ten days. That was ten days that you couldn't touch your money as Asda had dibs on it. I use waitrose and ocada and the money comes out after. Hope it turns up op, I feel your pain,

CrohnicallyAspie · 01/02/2016 06:35

Just a thought- but could it have been delivered elsewhere by mistake? (Eg is there a similar address near you such as My Road and My Avenue?)

They might have taken the money and shown it as delivered because they have delivered it- but not to you!

greenfolder · 01/02/2016 06:37

That sounds tough. I have had in the past where I came home and randomly found food I hadn't bought in the fridge and cupboards. Ocado had got the wrong house. Dh was in and just accepted the order, thinking that I had forgotten to tell him! Luckily that had left paperwork so easily sorted out. Funnily enough came home yesterday at 9 in the evening to a note through the door from tesco saying we weren't in and they couldn't deliver at 10 in the morning. That was for the same number next street along.

wannabestressfree · 01/02/2016 06:42

Nicki ignore the 'you must have some lentils in reserve brigade' we understand. It's happened to me before and I am in the same predicament. You are paying for a service. I hope it gets resolved asap.

PixieChops · 01/02/2016 06:58

I fully understand where you're coming from. Some days my cupboards are pretty bare as we aren't that well off at the moment so when I do a big shop I'd expect it to arrive otherwise we wouldn't have any food to feed us or our 1 year old as we wouldn't have money left over.
Bake sounds like your doing a fantastic job. Might I suggest a "I'm a magnificent mum" badge?
OP I sympathise so much, I've worked with ASD children and it is hard and the fact that you're having to get your child up earlier to go the shops will no doubt be unsettling.
Hope you get sorted with minimum fuss and give Tesco a bollocking!

imwithspud · 01/02/2016 07:17

Asda once delivered our shopping, only half of it was missing. Didn't notice until after the driver had left (lots of bags so assumed it was all there). Rung them up and they said they'd deliver it the next day, again it didn't turn up. This went on for almost a week when eventually we told them not to bother and to just refund us for the missing goods. Only used them once since then, to use up some vouchers that they'd given as a result of our complaint.

I understand op, when you pay to book a time slot you expect your goods to be delivered during that time. It's a massive inconvenience if it then doesn't turn up.

Definitely complain, as something has gone wrong somewhere along the line and they need to be made aware so it can't happen again.

I would also recommend Morrison's if they deliver in your area. Been using them for a few months and we've only ever had one substitute during that time.

ginnybag · 01/02/2016 07:17

No, I'm with the OP, as well. Is it really so hard for people to imagine how this could cause problems?

Shopping online is recommended on here for people on tight budgets, because it allows control of the spend, but something like this could screw someone up completely. Plenty of people don't have reserve cash, and it can regularly take 5 working days for money to reappear on a card.

OP is, weirdly, better off than a lot would be, although it's causing her issues. I can easily imagine how this could have left her with no food and no money for the rest of the week.
