IKEA

When will I learn? Always think it's a good idea to go. It's always on a weekend. Heaving. Massive queues. Toddler refusing to sit in trolley. Argue with DH. Everyone is miserable. Don't buy much but still spend £100. WIBU to say NEVER again, then forget how awful it is in 6 months and go again.

You can drown your sorrows and stuff your face with meatballs at the end.

SwedishEdith · 23/01/2016 20:12

Oh, yes, to the day out brigade strolling around, an aisle wide.

SkiptonLass2 · 23/01/2016 20:13

We spent 6000kr in there today.

There truly is no such thing as a quick trip to IKEA....

IWannaBeAPopstar · 23/01/2016 20:13

Do you not make use of the play area??! I dump my DC off for an hour, whizz round and collect them after paying. Works very well!

bunique · 23/01/2016 20:14

Yy to "always spending £100" - how does that happen?!

hefzi · 23/01/2016 20:19

I've never, ever been to IKEA, but threads like this always make me think that I'm missing nothing!

NinjaClaws · 23/01/2016 20:23

YABU.
There's only one IKEA in Ireland and it's over 4 hours drive away from me!

We went to IKEA today, in and out in half an hour, 4 hours later sofa is delivered. Love IKEA Grin

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 23/01/2016 20:25

We are going tomorrow and I am very excited. I love IKEA. Random crap and a veggie hot dog - what's not to love?

Allswellhere2 · 23/01/2016 20:37

We've just got back - 3 to 4 hours. We see it as a day out too...sorry Blush Well myself and the two youngest do, DH and oldest DD not so much. We all had a nice cake and got to pretend we lived in tidy rooms with enough storage so all good Smile I LOVE Ikea!

Pipbin · 23/01/2016 20:41

I saw a horror book set in ikea. It was printed and laid out like an ikea catalogue.

JenEric · 23/01/2016 21:00

I love IKEA but it's 10 mins away and a great meeting place. We go for breakfast. We know all the shortcuts. I love it. My life was changed when we went to order our bedroom furniture and discovered that they would both locate and deliver everything we wanted for £35. The next day my hallway was full of boxes.... No car Tetris no multiple trips no fights over being in the wrong aisle was life changing.

afussyphase · 23/01/2016 21:04

What's that horror book? Sounds hilarious

TinklyLittleLaugh · 23/01/2016 21:10

I do like a fake flat though. They are so clever.

TheWernethWife · 23/01/2016 21:10

I love IKEA as well, live 10 mins drive away from one.

Allswellhere2 · 23/01/2016 21:37

Ooh and I took my £20 off voucher that we got for buying our Christmas tree from there so got the £40 rug I wanted for our living room for half price - happy days Smile

HoneyDragon · 23/01/2016 21:40

IKEA makes dh randy. Usually by the time time we get to the office furniture he's got that look in his eye. He's some sort of Swedish flat pack pervert.

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2016 21:45

You are nutso to go on a Saturday.

Luckily, we have one only 30 minutes away. We go mid-week, leave home at 6pm, straight to restaurant for meatballs and Daim bar dessert, then whizz round the store.

We still come home with £50-worth of "stuff" we hadn't intended to buy, though.

unimaginativename13 · 23/01/2016 21:45

Park near the exit

Go to Bargain Corner first, on a Monday when all the returns have been done.

CrystalMcPistol · 23/01/2016 21:48

Know the shortcuts. There's a staff corridor that goes through my Ikea linking the starts of the maze with the checkout area. I stride through purposefully, it cuts out all the tedious wandering that can be more stressful than Bilbo Baggins' journey from the Shire to Mordor.

OvO · 23/01/2016 21:50

I love ikea.

I live so close to one I can see a corner of the blue from my front windows.

I'm now an IKEA expert as I sometimes go just to get away from my family, so I've been eleventy million times. Free tea and wifi, it's all good. Grin

Beth2511 · 23/01/2016 21:51

Last time i went to ikea we went with a list of every item location etc. Bought it all got out in 30 minutes.... Forgot to measure the bloody car!! Dh was not happy when i had to send him home on the train (which were delayed a good 90 minutes) with a very scarily packed car. Dh refuses t0 even consider foing again with me :(

PennyHasNoSurname · 23/01/2016 21:57

My DD (4) calls it Ikea's House. Mammy can we go play at Ikeas House?

I bloody love a trip there! Ive been known to be in the entrance and through the tills within 15mins as I know all the shortcuts now, but usually I just peruse and then we all stop for lunch in the cafe.

Casperthefriendlyspook · 23/01/2016 22:03

HoneyDragon - I fear you may in fact be married to my DP.... He once tried to fondle me in a Pax wardrobe set up. Not sure if the guy who opened the door on us, or I, were more mortified. Blush

SnozzberryMincePie · 23/01/2016 22:11

Last time I went I was heavily pregnant and I sat in the cafe eating hot dogs and ice cream with toddler dd while dp whizzed around the store with my shopping list. It was great Grin
