To be thrilled I've not smoked for a WEEK!

Well it's actually 8 days. I got an ecig...but a posh one...having already failed to give up on those cheaper style "pen-like" ones, I invested in one with a hefty battery and more power.

I've gone from smoking 30 a day...yes...THIRTY a day to none.

I have had one slip up where I found a pack with a cigarette left in it on day three and I smoked it...well...I had about three drags and it was gross.

I'm aware that the jury's out on ecigs but hey! At least they're cheaper.

Plan is to drop my nicotine strength soon...and then ditch the ecig when I'm ready.

I've smoked for twenty years. I haven't ever been able to give up with patches or gum or anything...I'm so relieved! It was costing a fortune and of course..the health issue. I know this isn't a proper AIBU but heck....I'm excited! I just thought about smoking and didn't want to!

Beezer thanks for that. Was thinking I'd have to stockpile before May!

PeacockPie · 23/01/2016 21:43

25 days vaping here! Feel so pleased that I really think I can do it. Well done OP, are you using any apps for support? The NHS smoke free one is good and encouraging (but only lasts 28 days-gulp!)

Never met you. Chances are I'll never meet you. But I'm very proud of you!

Drained12345 · 23/01/2016 22:05

Well done!!

TheHouseOnTheLane · 23/01/2016 23:45

Raquet I smoked Malboro and you can't replicate the taste. You just have to buy tobacco flavoured Eliquid...it's not the same but I honestly prefer it.

Grilled I genuinely don't miss the cigs and I was like you..LOVED smoking. Even though I knew it was bad...I just did. Unbelievably I just don't miss it....but I can't say often enough that those cheap supermarket ecigs won't cut the mustard. An investment is needed in a good unit.

In terms of cost....I'm in Australia...I was spending 225 dollars a WEEK on cigs. That's about 110 pounds!

It's now 6 dollars on liquid.

Here it's illegal to sell e liquid but I have sources. There's an ecig shop that does it under the counter and also I can order fom NZ.

NoahVale · 24/01/2016 00:04

illegal to sell liquid ! Shock
how bizarre

TheHouseOnTheLane · 24/01/2016 00:13

Noah I know....the government is full-on and grabby here...I think it's actually illegal to sell nicotine....or nicotine juice...so that buggers up the ejuice sellers.

But it's not illegal to vape? What a stupid bloody law!

ChampaleSocialist · 24/01/2016 13:12

Read Alan Carrs Easiway to Quit Smoking. I stopped dead after 30 years of roll ups with no filters.
You'll get there. Smile

TheHouseOnTheLane · 25/01/2016 12:10

Well I am there. I've read his books and they did nothing for me.

I don't smoke.

I vape.

I'll stop that when I'm ready Smile

Well done OP, I bet you are thrilled. I quite liked this site when I gave up. whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Benefits_Time_Table.html

Twindroops · 25/01/2016 12:17

Well done all of you!

TheHoneyBadger · 25/01/2016 14:46

another allen carr did nothing for - it felt like a clumsy attempt at brainwashing
