I had a big smear of green paint across my forehead. We must have just had a painting class. My mother was so cross. I remember her saying 'You'd think the teacher would have wiped her face.' Grin

LittleBeautyBelle · 22/01/2016 17:48

Both those photos are adorable!

MitzyLeFrouf · 22/01/2016 17:50

I look like a slim, post hair transplant, Elton John in one of my primary school photos.

Janeymoo50 · 22/01/2016 17:51

The only time my darling mum marched up to the school to give a teacher a piece of her mind was in 1972. The night before I had arrived home with the school photos. Mine was awful. I wore glasses you see, but the teacher had forced me to take them off (it will make you look prettier she said) resulting in a very unhappy 8 year old who looked on the verge of tears and who eyes basically looked in two different directions. For several decades after I always hated taking my glasses off in front of people (am over it now and can laugh about it but have never forgotten how upset my mum was for me). I also recall one of my sister, who had cut her own fringe right to the very top a few days earlier.

PirateSmile · 22/01/2016 17:53

I was always covered in cold sores in my school photos.

niddy · 22/01/2016 17:54

My daughter asked who the two little boys are on a joint school photo of me and my sister! The 70's weren't kind to us kids.

The ice cream man for years said "thanks son" when I paid him the money! Grin Is it too late to use parents for damage inflicted?!

JeNeSaisQoui · 22/01/2016 17:54

Stealth

Your description had me curious enough to click through and whilst the Bounty picture is, erm, probably not the best they've ever taken Grin what I'm more Hmm about is the picture of an oven (TELL ME that is indeed a new oven and not a result of some supersonic cleaning avoids looking at own ovens as things are growing in there ) and the cellar?

WTF is with the cellar pics??! It genuinely put me in mind of hose horrific stories where people are held captive for years!!! Confused

But congrats on having THE best ever most random variety photo stream I've ever seen on MNGrin (and on having VERY beautiful DC in the non-bounty pics!)

niddy · 22/01/2016 17:57

sue not use! Grin

sophorifichobnob · 22/01/2016 18:08

I don't have any photos of me thank goodness but my mother used to cut my hair using the pudding basin as a guide. Oh the shame!

BumWad · 22/01/2016 18:10

I can see your baby stealth and I'm ever so curious!

SevenOfNineTrue · 22/01/2016 18:10

I had a birthmark on my forehead as a kid so got called awful names. That's why no sharing of photos Smile

StealthPolarBear · 22/01/2016 18:14

Thank you je...I am grinning like an idiot at the compliment
yes I do have a very clean oven (and I suppose at th one about the kids :))
Oven was following application of oven pride
the cellar was off a website where you're meant to be able to see something spooky, I can't

Someone posted a pic last week of a group of us from my boarding house when I was 12. I actually had to ask if I was in the photo. I was that bad I didn't recognise myself. In my defence it was 1982 I was 12 and I had a leftover Lady Di hairstyle.

Eastpoint · 22/01/2016 19:46

I'm so glad to learn I wasn't the only girl who looked like a boy in the 70s. I haven't got my school photos but I had very practical hair, not quite a short back & sides but near enough.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 22/01/2016 19:49

All mine and my brothers were always like that. Hair looked hacked and a total mess!

Devilishpyjamas · 22/01/2016 19:49

You must have been 80's suchan??

Have had a godawful day - am loving these.

Aww you'd make a cute boy op Grin

I have one from when I was about 11/12 and I have a really dodgy perm and Deirdre Barlow specs. It hideous. When I was 15/16 and considerably cooler (arf) my mum tried to show it to my then boyfriend. I actually rugby tackled her to the ground in an attempt to stop her, injuring her and resulting in my grounding for a fair while!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 22/01/2016 20:00

I have some very dodgy ones too! Unfortunately, none scanned into my laptop so I can't share them with you! What a shame Grin.

VimFuego101 · 22/01/2016 20:02

My school pics were pretty similar to the OP's. My dad used to make me get my hair cut at the barbers as it was cheaper Angry

partialderivative · 22/01/2016 20:17

I remember a class photo of when I was about 9.

Other members of the class came up to me and said their mums had decided not to buy the photo because of my expression!

My mum bought it regardless

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2016 20:17

Mine were all awful. my Mother seemed to buy them whatever they looked like.
I presume they are all in her loft but don't really know.

jonquil1 · 22/01/2016 20:19

Dad dictated our hair styles (styles?) and dad said that fringes were 'common' so my sister and I had our fine (thin?) hair scraped back from a centre parting made with a steel comb and our hair was plaited into pigtails. Old chinamen had nothing on usWink. At 12 we went away to school and got busy with the craft scissors....

Even now if I don't use a hairdryer my hair will fall into a centre parting. I think our scalps must have ridges down them.Grin

Strangely, no pics remain of us from those days except out of focus ones taken on holidays.it was my job to clear the house after dad died and mum eventually went into a nursing home. I was ruthless.

MackerelOfFact · 22/01/2016 20:20

I was a reasonably cute child but I always had a bloody wonky fringe!

You were all adorable little things, dodgy haircuts and all!
