To think england manages its taxes and services much better than Scotland or Wales

DyslexicScientist · 18/01/2016 21:38

Scotland seems to all be about being generous and fuck the consequence. All these major policies like council tax freeze, letting people in council properties having a spare room, no tutition fees for anyone in Europe (unless your English obviously) and free prescriptions.

But the life expectancy is much lower despite all the extra money on healthcare and education results are worse in Scotland and wales.

Thank fuck for that HelenHQ. Smile

I was beginning to wonder if my GF senses had abandoned me.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 18/01/2016 23:16

Oh jolly good. It's been an irritant for a while.
Also Scotland != Wales.

Pannn · 18/01/2016 23:27

shamelessly posting for the delete message from HQ (once other knuckle-draggers wade in) that will encompass Flower of Scotland and something about leeks. On a Star Wars theme too.
The deletion comment bar has been set v high.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 19/01/2016 00:32

About time!

ComposHatComesBack · 19/01/2016 01:33

Re. MNHQ's message. Does that mean that OP has been banned or has been slapped on the wrist and told to play nicely by the mods?

honeysucklejasmine · 19/01/2016 01:36

I think they mean banned. For persistent goady fuckery.

OddSocksHighHeels · 19/01/2016 01:47

Huh. I'd seen the OP name and thought it was unlike her but clearly I was wrong!

ComposHatComesBack · 19/01/2016 02:01

Oh good!

Odd she started off quite reasonable, but in the last two weeks ago got more and more goady and more and more bizarre. Not sure if this was a deliberate strategy or was just that her true colours shone through in the end.

Hotpatootietimewarp · 19/01/2016 08:09

I was just about to say I'd noticed the OP was starting a lot of these nasty, but written in such a way that they were blatantly nasty, threads

Hotpatootietimewarp · 19/01/2016 08:09

Weren't blatantly nasty I mean

Noofly · 19/01/2016 08:16

It's a shame the OP is a GF because I was going to come in here and agree with the education point. I think the Curriculum for Mediocrity is destroying the state education system unless you are lucky enough to live in one of the areas that is maximising the possibilities. I think a two tier state system has emerged with some areas allowing 8 choices in S4 and others limiting it to 6.

In our non wealthy area, the schools are really suffering. E.g. we used to have a music teacher who covered a number of the primary schools in the area. He retired 5 years ago and hasn't been replaced due to budget cuts. The local high school has slashed their Highers and Advanced Highers options so they only offer a basic range and not, for example, a single science Advanced Higher. Meanwhile, a few miles away you have schools offering a wide range of courses. Overall, the education system might look OK depending on where you live, but the reality is pretty crap.

Birdsgottafly · 19/01/2016 08:39

This OP used to state that she wasn't from the UK and she was posting to improve her English, which was plausible (she jumped on 'Crowd Pleaser').

I was going to link to the HC1&2, thinking that she didn't know about this, or Scotland's Health History.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 19/01/2016 08:57

Yes Noofly to an even more obvious two teir system in education.

It is no surprise that those able to pick their way successfully through CfE are the kids with educated parents.

The answer is not to focus money on Local Authorities with deprived overall intakes but either

1.) have a robust education that provides a route out of deprivation anywhere in Scotland and we can all trust. Or if that is too hard and you do it piecemeal,

2.) have the money follow the child (via FSM data for example.)

TheHiphopopotamus · 19/01/2016 09:07

What do your celebrity friends think about this?

Grin Is this the poster who is mates with Madonna?

PaulAnkaTheDog · 19/01/2016 09:15

What a stupid fucking thread.

Dawndonnaagain · 19/01/2016 09:18

Here we go again, another of your 'controversial' threads. Biscuit

PaulAnkaTheDog · 19/01/2016 09:18

Just saw MNHQ comment. Does that mean DyslexicScientist and her godawful threads are no more?! Hurrah! I didn't realise she was intentionally goady tbh but then again, I stopped going near most of her threads because they annoyed the shit out me.

ilovesooty · 19/01/2016 21:29

On my phone I can't see who started threads. Whenever I clicked on one and thought she'd started it I was invariably right. I reckon she's had a number of previous names, has been banned before and will be back.

rosewithoutthorns · 19/01/2016 21:33

Im gobsmacked that everyone thinks they know so much Grin

MrsJayy · 19/01/2016 21:40

The op has been unraveling for weeks more and more random shitty goady posts they never used to be like that some people need to get a grip

Twooter · 19/01/2016 21:48

I agree with noofly about education. I would much refer my kids to be doing thdEnglish system rather than narrowing their choices dramatically at such an early stage.

Butteredparsnips · 19/01/2016 21:48

was looking forward to debating with education systems and their relevance to croud pleasers
