AIBU about neighbours dog?

A neighbour has a dog which he seems to let out early in the morning (poo time or whatever) in his garden near to us. Sometimes this is at 7am but sometimes it's before at 6.45am. The dog appears to be trained to bark to ask to be let in the house. We don't get up till 7.15 and sometimes are woken by the dog. We have asked him once nicely to stop and he made no comment - took no notice- anything we should do if it carries on?

My dog opens any doors by the handle, whether they open in or out.
I think YABU if its for a short time and you will probably get used to it- I have cockerels which crow from about 3/4am and I rarely notice now! However why not have a proper chat about it and ask if they can let the dog out later or get a dog flap?

I'm a dog owner and I would be mortified if my dog barked and woke the neighbours. Thing is it only has to bark once to wake you up.

I let mine out first thing and let him back in pretty sharpish. My DH is a nightmare though and will wander off and forget to let him back in, fortunately he only whines to begin with but it would soon escalate to a bark if not taken notice of.

I get up at 6.15am but I'd be pretty upset if next door woke me up at 5.45am.

Yabu, if he barks at 7am and you get up at 7.15am it's only an extra 15 minutes asleep.

Have a 15 minute lie in or just get up.

My back door opens outwards. Never seen one that opens inwards.

How long is the dog barking for?

What time are you up in the morning?

Yabu.
A lot of barking would be fair ground for complaining but a short bark is nothing. I think you should get some ear plugs.

I can see how this would be annoying if it was a lot of prolonged barking early in the morning and the owner just couldn't be arsed to go and let the dog in. However, if it's just one or two barks then it's not so bad really.

It would irritate me so YANBU Smile.

Some dogs are really loud. If your neighbours are awake to let the dog out then it wouldn't exactly be difficult for them to do something so that the dog doesn't bark.

antisoc- What could they do to stop the dog barking that 'isn't exactly difficult?' He's not incessantly barking, it's just a short bark to ask to be let back in. My dog does one woof and we know to let him back in, and I'm happy with that arrangement!

Agree that dog barks are just what happens when you have neighbors. It's unreasonable to suggest he waits by the door until the dog is ready to come in, so apart from that what exactly do you expect him to do? Get a shock collar?

You can't do anything, just be thankful you don't live where I do! Barking next door dog (all day...) cockerels a few meters away and my walls are so thin I can hear clearly next door stirring a cup of tea from my upstairs bedroom, absolutely not an exaggeration.

OP you sound very precious, the Environmental Health team will not care about a dog that barks for a few seconds at the most.

We've the same situation except is 6.20am and 1am every day. The bark wakes my toddler and husband up every day. We are aware that others have complained and the owner is very aggressive. He complained to us about bubbles landing in his garden so no way I'm approaching him when he's that unreasonable!

We're investing in secondary glazing to try to get rid of the problem.

don't think YBU to think it's unreasonable - if I were to be disturbed from my 'sleep of the dead'' I would also be disgruntled...
I just think you're asking too much of the average dog owner - damn, it'd be tempting to leave my houndlet outside in the garden whilst he's pissing about finding little patches of nothing to sniff at and suddenly develops deafness...

But just think... which would be worse? Neighbours dog barking; or me trilling 'Pete-ey-pete', 'Come-on...', 'In-you-come' - 'Oh don't be a silly dog, we'll wake up the neighbours' 'Come ON Petey - don't be such a dickhead and listen - WILL YOU!?

YANBU - your neighbour has a dog, the dog needs to wee, your neighbor chose to have a dog, he should get up, get dressed and take it for a wee. I live in a small semi detached house in a residential road - the only noise I ever hear that is selfish and inconsiderate is from a dog in the road behind us. Yyyy to the bugle

I've got a dog problem with a neighbour. A real one with prolonged periods of barking and howling at unreasonable hours. The dog is clearly distressed and wakes my daughter up.

Your neighbour's dog barks a couple of times asking to be let in, 15 minutes before your alarm goes off. It really is a non-issue. That's the kind of minor disturbance you expect to have to tolerate when living in close proximity to others.

YANBU. DP lets the dog out for a wee at 6 am. He stands in the kitchen, pottering about with half an eye on the dog. Door remains closed, so DP is walk. When the dog walks towards door and DP lets hi back in. If someone didn't come, dog would 'ask' aka bark and that would be selfish even if it's only for a short period of time.

YANBU. I wait by the door for my dog to come back in. i'm mortified if he barks in the garden when he's out for a midnight wee. My dog, my choice - not the neighbours!

I have a skip truck load and load 3 skips next to my back garden between 6:30am and 7am, at least three mornings a week, environmental health can do bugger all about it. Good luck with your complaint.

My old neighbours down the side of our house used to let their dog out every fucking day of the week at 6.30 am
It'd run straight out chasing fucking clouds and I'm thrilled it is now dead
it's exhausting being wound up by something that consideration could stop

And I love animals
