I think Siemens are a fairly decent brand. I've always had a Bosch dishwasher. Agree with KnockMeDown have a look today then check out reviews & order online with next day delivery tonight/tomorrow.

How about a stackable washer and dryer or a 'table top' or slimline dishwasher.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/01/2016 16:07

I see you've made your decision but I was going to say that if you only do a small amount of washing (one load per day or less), then yes - a washer dryer should be fine.

If you need to do more than one load a day however, it's just annoying as you have to wait for the first load to finish drying before you can even put the next load in.

We had one in our first flat 19 years ago and it was great whilst it was just me & DH. Once DS1 arrived & our washing volume trebled we swapped to separate washers & dryers and wouldn't swap back now.

We sacrifice a dishwasher for the sake of a tumble dryer - much more important to me!

notenoughbottle · 10/01/2016 16:10

Don't do it! I had a washer dryer for years - wasn't cheap either, cost me £550. It was a waste of money. My tumble drier is in she's now.

dotdotdotmustdash · 10/01/2016 16:13

How about a washing machine and one of these...

I had a washer dryer for about three years then it blew up the day we moved it the new house. It wouldn't stop me buying another.

BrokenVag · 10/01/2016 16:16

Love mine!

Petal02 · 10/01/2016 16:16

Do not buy a washer-dryer. They don't dry.

Goingtobeawesome · 10/01/2016 16:18

If you think you are being fleeced you'd be silly to buy anything!

howabout · 10/01/2016 16:18

Sounds like you need to go away and think about it as pp suggest. I have a family of 5 and a washer / dryer. It works fine and not had the repair man out in over 5 years. I have no outside drying space so it gets used. You do need a certain level of time and organisation though.

WeAllHaveWings · 10/01/2016 16:19

Washer dryer - no
Tumble dryer vs dishwasher? - dishwasher
Siemens had good reviews when I had my Which subscription

NeverHadANickname · 10/01/2016 16:22

Love my washer dryer. Only do small loads in it though.

RealityCheque · 10/01/2016 16:22

Indesit as a brand are fine. The same as hotpoint. Ignore the usual mn brand snobbery.

That said, washer driers ARE shit.

MummaV · 10/01/2016 16:26

I didn't have space in my last kitchen so bought a stacking kit from eBay and had my tumble dryer stacked on top of my washing machine and later my freezer. Saved space and made loading and unloading easier as it was at the right height to not have to bend. Washer dryers are awful if you are used to a tumble dryer!

Loftslag · 10/01/2016 16:32

My Zanussi washer-drier dried ok - it took longer than a separate drier, but you get used to that. What I didn't get used to was the layer of lint that appeared on every load after washing. According to the Zanussi engineer, it's a fundamental flaw with WDs - the fluff gets sucked out on the drying cycle and then blown back in on the next wash. I spent hours of my life desperately lint-rolling my clothes and would never have one again if I could avoid it.

19lottie82 · 10/01/2016 16:33

Yes, indesit is a shit brand. Go home and do some research and buy online after comparing prices. Ao.com are usually the best and includes free delivery.

jelliebelly · 10/01/2016 16:34

No to washer drier they are useless compared to s proper drier.

I'd recommend researching reviews online before buying anything - appliances online us s good site and they deliver/install next day

greenfolder · 10/01/2016 16:34

Whatever he is quoting, go on ao.com and check price.

jelliebelly · 10/01/2016 16:35

19lottie great minds think alike!

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 10/01/2016 16:36

The other thing with washer dryers is that, as a category, they generally have far shorter life spans than stand alone products. The engineer told us that there were some pretty fundamental engineering compromises to do two different jobs.

GinIsTheBestChristmasSpirit · 10/01/2016 16:36

I have a Hoover washer dryer and I love it. It washes huge loads well. Dryer capacity is smaller but it dries as fast as my hot point stand alone did. I don't dry vast majority of stuff but I like having it for emergencies and bedding in the winter.

PiglettWithAttitude · 10/01/2016 16:38

We have a washer-drier. Separate would be better but don't have room.

Our John Lewis dishwasher is dreadful.

stoopstofolly · 10/01/2016 16:50

I know I'm a monitory but I'm happy with my washer dryer. It obv not as good as a separate tumble drier but it means I can dry underwear and kids uniform etc without having the smalls for a whole household draped all ovet the house! It tumbles towels well (makes them fluffy and then I hang them over bannister to dry off). It's not as good as a separate tumble drier but it's definitely better than not having one at all.

Bluetrews25 · 10/01/2016 16:52

I don't get all this dishwasher love. Only takes a few mins, won't ruin your glasses, and what you need is not trapped for the next 60 mins. It's a great life skill to teach the DCs when old enough.......and you can continue / start your dinner table conversation as they will have to put their phone down.........

whois · 10/01/2016 17:03

I would much rather have a washer/dryer than no dryer if there is only space for one. Think about bedding and towels and stuff if you don't have much space.
