to keep my flap up during a flight

I've just landed from a 13 hour daytime all the way flight from China. We flew over China. Mongolia, Russia etc and the scenery below was breathtaking as it was clear.
However, I was apparently, one of those passengers, because, having booked a window set to look out, I refused to pull the blind down until after lunch, some 4 hours in.
Fellow passengers were huffing and blowing but that just made me more steely resolved. It was a daytime flight, them wanting to sleep meant they needed to wear the slumber shades provided (no-one seemed to bother).
WIBU to keep it open to see the mountains?

As opposed to the window seat. What about the person in the aisle seat who hunkers down to sleep having insisted the flap is put down. They then will not move for anyone else to get out for a toilet break. If woken up they sigh, eye roll and tooth suck - when you come back from toilet they are asleep again so procedure is repeated. If I have the aisle seat I get up when asked and am pleasant about it. Is a right PITA when you have the person who is up and down like a yo yo all flight but is life.
