if someone is waiting at your house for deliveries

I was asked by my sister to come and wait at her house for furniture being delivered. She is aware I have my girls with me. I've been here since 7:30. We left home at 6:30am to get here on time. We had breakfast at home and I always carry small snacks.
Am I being unreasonable to think they could at least have left something for our lunch (tin of soup, stuff for beans on toast), anything.
I have found some custard creams and black pudding. That is it!
I wouldn't mind but my sister always eats me out of house and home when she visits. I don't mind but now I am perplexed that there is nowt for us to have at her house.----
I have found various empty plastic tubs that are mine when I give her food home!
I think I am going to have to order pizza to be delivered. God knows when the furniture will arrive and the neighbours will be thinking the youngest is being murdered. She doesn't take well to being hungry! The Incredible Hulk would be more understanding
She has 3 more deliveries after today. I'm going to say get food in or warn me to pack a picnic! I don't except Michelin star food but perhaps a slice of bread.

I can't get over the fact that they have ZERO food in the house! Even if they did move 5 weeks ago.

bizarre :)

TheTigerIsOut · 07/01/2016 14:28

She is a teacher and didn't realise that children eat? Good grief, glad it was sorted. (I still would say no for the next one though...)

OohMavis · 07/01/2016 14:28

Doesn't she eat? Confused

OnlyLovers · 07/01/2016 14:29

Good result, OP!

Anaffaquine123 · 07/01/2016 14:29

Also discovered she now only has one tiny saucepan, no baking trays, one casserole dish and a frying pan. Apparently they don't match her new colour scheme so she got rid. I don't understand what they are eating day-to-day or how they cook if they are in.

X post!

Delivery time up until 13.00 & she knew that you would leave yopur house at 06.30 to get to her for 07.30??

Of course you might be wanting lunch!!

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2016 14:31

Has she just moved in ? I'd ring her and say your dcs are starving and get her to order quickly and pay for a decent takeaway (that the dcs will eat Grin) Or if not you're going out to eat and staying out FGS.

OohMavis · 07/01/2016 14:32

OP, did you buy her that KonMari book for Christmas? Grin

ppeatfruit · 07/01/2016 14:33

Anaffaquine WHAT??? she got rid of pans that don't match her colour scheme ???? She cares about recycling and reusing then FGS.

Anaffaquine123 · 07/01/2016 14:34

I think they have been eating out and having take aways. There was also the big bottle of ketchup I brought over on moving day when we all had fish and chips.
I will let her off as she is usually amazing and fab with the kids. She just isn't organised with the house yet. It would have been a high priority for me. Her priority is getting pictures on walls and nice cushions.Grin
We are VERY different and she doesn't have kids yet. I'm sure it will change if that happens!

The pans and dishes were our mums. They were probably on their last legs but I would have replaced them before chucking the old ones! She is just excited about her new house. I think she is nuts but hey ho!

Does the partner live there too or does he have another house that they spend a lot of time at? I can imagine if they are teachers they might not have time to cook and maybe just eat prepared food/takeaways that they buy as they need them?

I often fantasise about eating like that - entirely on M&S quality ready meals, takeaways, frozen pizza and eating out, but even if I did, I would at least have eggs in for breakfast and some storecupboard stuff.

diddl · 07/01/2016 14:40

"She and her partner are both teachers so it is tricky for them to get time off for deliveries."

Well they must have both just had some time offGrin

I guess a lot of people also have though so getting stuff delivered would be difficult.

Throwing pots & pans away before replacing?

Lucky that they can afford afford to eat out/takeaways in the interim!!

Lweji · 07/01/2016 14:43

Apparently they don't match her new colour scheme so she got rid.

OMG. She is one of those!

Go NC

reni2 · 07/01/2016 14:51

Yes, order pizza and make her pay you back. I would have left lunch, drinks, fruit.

reni2 · 07/01/2016 14:51

I hope you dressed your girls to match the colour scheme.

Anaffaquine123 · 07/01/2016 14:52

She isn't usually too bad. I'm going to put it down to excitement about the new house.
She isn't like someone else I know, who changes everything in her house at least yearly. From wallpaper to plates. She has to be right on trend! That boggles my head.
My dsis inherited all mum's kitchen stuff - I already had enough before mum died so dsis got the lot. The casserole dishes could well have been older than her! But I still don't get it!

whatevva · 07/01/2016 14:53

You can see why she eats you out of house and home!! Shock

I would have got breakfast in, if you had to set off so early. Then you would have just had to have got dressed and turned up. No lunch needed Wink. If you had such an early breakfast, your stomach would think your throat was cut by 12.

Anaffaquine123 · 07/01/2016 14:55

GrinGrin Actually dd2 is all in grey/sliver so that would match...we will have to chuck dd1's frozen leggings and pink t-shirt though. That won't match!

My underwear is that fabulous "been washed thousands of times, used to be white but now so grey they are almost blue" colour. They would match too. My jeans and red jumper will have to go though!

Anaffaquine123 · 07/01/2016 14:57

Kids now finished the last of the custard creams! We are off!!

ImperialBlether · 07/01/2016 15:00

She can get things delivered to school, can't she?

ImperialBlether · 07/01/2016 15:00

Oh sorry, just seen it's furniture!

Floggingmolly · 07/01/2016 15:02

He turned up with a tin of beans and some yogurts? Hmm. A meal fit for a King...

PrincePondicherry · 07/01/2016 15:05

I am on the fence. Tbh I wouldn't have expected someone to provide lunch for me and would have taken my own.

GoneAndDone · 07/01/2016 15:06

Reading Ocado's Facebook page (and people's posts to them) will show you that a lot of people apparently don't keep any food in the house. So many posts saying "OMG you're an hour late and I have absolutely nothing to feed my kids now" or "we got back from holiday and now our order is late so there's nothing to eat". I don't understand it, I could probably eat for two weeks out of what's in the cupboards and freezer.

Hope you ordered take away!
