Birthday party etiquette - poll ?

Quick yes or no. DD1 birthday in a couple weeks .

She has two cousins similar age who she rarely sees . Maybe 3 to 4 times per year . They live close by . No other family so it will just be school friends .

We would like to keep numbers down due to cost .

Do I invite them to her party ? Confused

Yes

5madthings · 04/01/2016 19:20

No nor if it's a school friends party, you can see them.another day around her bday?

I mean you can if you want but you don't sound particularly close? Does dd want to invite them?

wineoclockthanks · 04/01/2016 19:22

No to the party, possibly invite them around for tea. (Assuming she hasn't been invited to all their parties).

SanityClause · 04/01/2016 19:23

No need, if she rarely sees them.

Janek · 04/01/2016 19:24

No, they won't know anyone, they'll hate it!

AutumnLeavesArePretty · 04/01/2016 19:24

Yes, time is short at times so any chance to catch up with family should be taken.

Cressandra · 04/01/2016 19:25

Sorry, I think this depends on your family. Does she get invited to their parties?

Tantrictantrum · 04/01/2016 19:26

No

WipsGlitter · 04/01/2016 19:27

No.

Sparkletastic · 04/01/2016 19:27

No

CremeEggThief · 04/01/2016 19:27

Yes.

IncognitoFajito · 04/01/2016 19:28

For the first party DD1 had we invited them .

For their DDs party , they had school friends and then did a separate family tea . We didn't attend family tea as we had already plans .

Not unless dd is asking for them to come. If they live fairly near but you only see them a few times a year then they can't be that close so you shouldn't feel obliged. They might feel a bit awkward at the party as the school friends will all know each other.

NorthernRosie · 04/01/2016 19:29

No, but then I never see my cousins and couldn't care less!

ClemFandagoDoesTheTango · 04/01/2016 19:30

Did she get invited to her cousins' parties?

MsColouring · 04/01/2016 19:31

It depends - are they similar age? Is it a specific activity with limited numbers?

ClemFandagoDoesTheTango · 04/01/2016 19:32

Cross post.

I would probably invite them then.

IncognitoFajito · 04/01/2016 19:33

DD hasn't mentioned them coming - they don't really know each other , other than for an hours meet up a few times a year.

I will offer for our DDs to get together for a tea . That should be ok shouldn't it ?

No. My dds are close to their cousins. See them weekly but school parties now are just for school friends. It's a weird dynamic otherwise, in my experience.

formerbabe · 04/01/2016 19:34

No...I wouldn't invite them.

IncognitoFajito · 04/01/2016 19:35

It's an activity that doesn't have a set limit , but the activity would be better with less children iykwim?

It's also charged per head .

No

Wildernessrock · 04/01/2016 19:37

No, they won't know anyone. I might do a seperate family tea party and invite them to that.

eddielizzard · 04/01/2016 19:46

no don't invite. do separate family tea.

TeenAndTween · 04/01/2016 19:48

No.
Invite to separate family tea if you want to.
