to show no interest in Pokemon?

The next time DS (10) tells me something about Pokemon (which will be within the next 10 minutes) I swear I'm going to scream. I have already completely ignored him, rolled my eyeballs, huffed, even said "I'm really not interested" and he is just not taking the 'hint'.

First it was Thomas the incredibly dull Tank engine, then it was Angry Birds who filled me with anger, then Bakugan, and now Pokemon. He becomes fixated and drives me mad with a constant stream of trivia. And I just can't fake an interest. He tries to force interest out of me by asking me what Pokemon would I prefer to battle in such and such conditions.

Does anyone else have this problem? I seriously don't think I can take much more.

I do my bit by buying him Pokemon stuff, I even made the effort to find an online Pokemon quiz the other day to test his knowledge. I just can't take the constant Pokemon chat when I'm trying to live my everyday life.

Get ready for the 20th anniversary this year
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Brock is a bloody creepy sex pest though. I am surprised that none of nurse Jenny's or Officers Jenny's have filed a restraint order against him yet.

I agree dillite and have pointed that out to DS. Now whenever he starts leering at the next female, DS and I roll our eyeballs and call him an idiot.

Thanks for that ProcrastinatorGeneral I daren't ask DS a question about Pokemon as that really would be asking for it.

I'm genuinely surprised that some of the grown ups here are still into it! Seriously? You can watch a whole episode without wanting to chew your own arm off?

DS has gone through a range of obsessions in his 18 years that I have had to try and look interested in. It's currently Magic the Gathering which makes Pokemon look like Uno. He's spent about half of his Christmas holiday back from uni building new decks. At least he's always been obsessed with history so I can subtly change the subject and enjoy a two hour lecture on the Western Roman Empire or somesuch.

He'll Pikachu

Ooh really missingmumxox, DS is going to be over the moon when I tell him that tomorrow! I wonder if they'll be any events etc. I wouldn't mind getting involved in that way.

My ds1 and 2 are 25 and 23 and are still adducted to Pokémon. They know EVERYTHING and love to discuss it with meHmm

Pokémon is , however, much less annoying than Yugi-Oh, which the know more than everything about. Did you know that 2016 in the 20th anniversary of the original yuvi release in Japan and there will be some sort of celebratory remake involving yugi and kaiba? My boys could tell you all about it!

dillite · 04/01/2016 00:19

cakedup for me, I enjoy watching it because it's something from my childhood. And yes, it's repetitive, and Team Rocket are dumber than a rock, but it just feels kinda nostalgic. I would much rather watch Pokemon than Mr Tumble, Peppa Pig, Octonauts or any other shite that they make these days. Now that I find mind numbingly dumb. But then I was a massive Sailor Moon fan- and even though we only had it in German, and I did not know any German, I still loved the show and wouldn't ever miss an episode. I re-watched all of the episodes last year, this time in English, and sobbed my heart out just as before.

I had no idea there were cards for Pokemon though. We used to have those little round disks that you were supposed to throw against other stacked up disks, but no cards. Now I am scouring eBay for some more toys!

ItsANewDayToday · 04/01/2016 01:02

*LessedStressed^ your DS's are about the same as my two eldest and they also went from Pokemon to Yugi-oh (sp?) They spent hours playing yugi-oh

dillite I can understand how you can be attached to it due to sentimental reasons. I suppose it would be like me trying to explain to a younger person why I like Grease so much when for them it might be a pretty shit movie.
