WIBU to think of Mumsnet whilst witnessing this family today?

Been a lovely afternoon today.

Took our three youngest DC to town to go ice skating and look at the lights before having dinner.

In the town centre there's a huge teepee marquee that is being used as a bar/restaurant/ during Christmas. Really lovely inside with twinkly lights and benches covered with blankets.

Anyway, whilst I was quaffing an overpriced mulled wine a group of women come in.
All nicely dressed with a gaggle of very sweet young children who proceeded to bazz around the bar area.
The women were sat ignoring the running kids who were weaving in and out of customers carrying drinks. The children (about 6 altogether) then quietened and sat down on a low stage.
Then, one go the mums turned in her seat and pipes up:
'Little Jimmy/Cuthbert/Twinkletoes! Run around again like before so I can take a photo if you!'

For fuck's sake.
Dicks.

Bet they'd be the first to complain if their kid ended up covered in gluhwein.

LookingForwardto2016 · 29/12/2015 20:37

Slightly off topic but was this in Bolton?

BathshebaDarkstone · 29/12/2015 20:39

x2boys · 29/12/2015 20:39

As going to say exactly the same thing Looking the big teepee thing next to the open air ice rink in bolton town centre?

LookingForwardto2016 · 29/12/2015 20:41

Pipbin · 29/12/2015 20:52

What cocks.
I too thought of MN when I was sat in our local where children were flying about on scooters!!

hefzi · 29/12/2015 20:54

This sort of thing happens a lot in Marlow - little Tarquin expressing his creativity by attacking the barristas carrying hot coffee, whilst Boden mummy ignores him or verbally abuses anyone who dares ask him to sit down and stop being a danger to life and limb. The teepee sounds much better, though, even with badly behaved children - I am tempted to take a trip to Bolton!

lorelei9 · 29/12/2015 20:58

OP, does bazz = barrel? Soz if stupid question Wink

thelaundryfairy · 29/12/2015 21:00

I would be the mum who had left her children at home and was downing all of the Glühwein. Blush I adore that stuff!

The need to create non-spontaneous photographs of children acting out apparently spontaneous gestures baffles me. At least none of these children was hurt, luckily.

x2boys · 29/12/2015 21:01

It does look fab if somewhat expensive hefzi!

x2boys · 29/12/2015 21:03

Bazz means rush around.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/12/2015 21:06

Bet they'd be the first to complain if their kid ended up covered in gluhwein. That made me Grin

hefzi · 29/12/2015 21:07

x2boys ah, that sort of place always is - but it would be nice to have some mulled wine and atmosphere even so!

QueenArseClangers · 29/12/2015 21:10

Yep it was in Bolton!
Family ice skating was £15 for us all for 45 mins and apparently the lunch menu in the teepee is pretty good (according to DH who bagged some freebies from work).

But honestly, who the fuck would be so ignorant to let their kids do that?

I had a chat with a couple of the staff who said it's been quite a regular occurrence and one lady said it's been more of a kindergarten with parents letting their children run about Hmm

I've not been in the teepee or on the ice rink, but it does look very nice. Hope you had a good time regardless of the idiots of Bolton being there Grin

x2boys · 29/12/2015 21:23

Grinlooking

x2boys · 29/12/2015 21:25

And yanbu sorry to go off topic!

QueenArseClangers · 29/12/2015 21:26

It's on until the 3rd of Jan I think.
They've been having pop up restaurant events (hate saying the phrase 'pop up' like that) that sounded pretty good but think they might've finished now.
It's nice to see Bolton doing stuff like that, it upsets me at how shabby the town centre has become in recent years and prefer to nip into Bury even though it's further.
The August Food Festival is always ace though. I always stuff my face and call it a 'dress size in a weekend' event Blush

Big up to da Bolton Massive, common' at ya from the North Bolton/Turton crew Wink
