... either complaining about what you got, or other people complaining about what you gave them?

Just a reminder - it's the season of peace & goodwill to all mankind.

YANBU. I'm off to church.

Yes! Yes! Totally agree with the op. And the amount of posters complaining about 'lazy' presents this year. Honestly, some people come across as so fucking entitled I'm surprised anyone wants to spend the holiday with them let alone attempt to buy them something that reaches their high standards. Bah humbug to you lot!

biggles50 · 27/12/2015 15:25

Yes it's disappointing that adults can be grabby and ungrateful.

HellesBelles01 · 27/12/2015 15:36

YADNBU. This is my Christmas on MN and I've been open mouthed with some of the threads/comments.

There are some fucking entitled people on here. Grabby, ungrateful, spoilt. By world standards, most of us here live a life of unbelievable luxury, even if we have to make do with Bayliss and Harding and Cadbury's milk tray as gifts. I have a few food and toiletry gifts that will be given to the food bank or women's shelter (dieting and allergies) but I will never tell the giver and it doesn't stop me being genuinely grateful for the time and effort the giver put into getting them for me).

I'd love to know the evil PILs (and other relatives) side of the story for some of these threads...

In the interest of balance, I've also been touched by the support MNers have given to other posters and laughed out loud at the many witty and intelligent posts. It's the bloody present threads that drive me mad!

Any gift from a MiL is automatically seen as crap on MN

My MiL gave me a bag of pegs for Xmas. We don't have a washing line. I'm all for the season of goodwill, but even the ones who can find joy in all would struggle with a bag of bleeding pegs, right? Grin

(Other than that, I had lovely presents, all of which I was very grateful for!).

2ndSopranosRule · 27/12/2015 16:49

Dd1 got rubbish presents from FIL. Always does. He'd do much better if he took just half an hour out of his busy year to engage and find out what she likes. Ten minutes would actually do. I'm cross about it because he really doesn't give a shit and it shows.

He got me the most awful handbag. I like bags and normally I quite like a new one, but this is utterly hideous. I can't think who would look at it and think yes, "A 36-year-old would love that!". I offered it to my 70 yo mum but she declared it old fashioned...

Last year he got me a sheep onesie in a size 16. I'm a 10.

Christmas, imvho, is the ideal time to show who you like and who you don't.

2nd, did you post in the right thread? Confused

And 2ndSopranosRule spectacularly misses the point of the thread...
