Not A One.

It was all okay.

We did sail close to the wind with The Great HandCream Drama Fight but disaster was averted.

Thank The Great Sky Fairy.

I am now quaffing wine.

Her big brother went Christmas shopping.

He bought her a cuddly poo emoj 💩 she adores it. When asked why she replied "it's squishy and my brother bought it and I love it".

Salmotrutta · 25/12/2015 23:54

Aww Honey that's just lovely! Smile

When i was putting things away a plastic jug jumped out of the cupboard and pusjed a glass on to the floor which then smashed.
Can I count that as a drama?

BrideOfWankenstein · 26/12/2015 00:29

Nearly had a drama, when DP realised that his M&S turducken joint should have been defrosted before cooking. Had to stick it in the bag in warm water and then for about 10-15 minutes to microwave. Then kept it in the oven longer than in instructions, but eventually it tasted amazing, so drama avoided.
Slight drama when DS(10) decided to be upset over his chair, as DNiece(11) was sitting in it. Had to warn him that he will not be eating unless calm and polite. Worked well, bigger drama avoided.

So all good, everyone's happy and full of tasty food. Smile

If I could only stop feeling guilty about buying such cheap presents to others, compared to what they got me

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 26/12/2015 00:36

Nope all good here too! Very happy DCs who loved their gifts, I got some lovely presents, great food thanks to my mum (had the big meal on Christmas eve and jacket spuds/salady stuff on Christmas day - was a bit skeptical about doing it that way but actually it was great).

I have to admit I was a bit nervous about spending the day at my mum's flat - my parents don't really like the DCs scurrying about and sometimes when we stay it's quite stressful trying to keep them still and quiet. But it was fine, they enjoyed the DCs playing with their presents and the DCs actually behaved really well considering how overexcited/tired they were.

And my parents ACTUALLY JOINED IN with the card games we'd bought! This is almost unheard of. I'm so pleased as it's made me really sad in the past when they've refused.

Oh actually there was one bit of drama. DH forgot to turn his alarm off. So the DCs, who normally sleep in til gone 8 these days, were first woken at 6 Xmas Angry

TheSnowFairy · 26/12/2015 00:41

No drama here either. Usually have lots of in-laws moments but this year was just me, DH, DM and DC's - a really relaxing day.

Everytimeref · 26/12/2015 00:50

Some drama here. Broken finger (ok slightly bruised!) playing Irish snap.

HoneyDragon · 26/12/2015 01:08

Actually tbf we did have drama in that the fridge broke Xmas eve, but everything's in the garage and no one appears to have been poisoned ... But no point stressing, I'll phone tomorrow and find out what can be done.

OhJustGetOnWithIt · 26/12/2015 01:16

4 glasses broken here but no blood or shouting. I sense a shopportunity for nice new ones.
Oh wait! I got slightly ticked off that DH left his veg peeling to go and help DS1. I might have tutted.

BurningBridges · 26/12/2015 01:19

I think we may have gotten away with it. My new slippers were too big and DD's new slippers too small - both have had the tags removed so can't go back. H who is not very D to me got me a card with lots of things about "kissing my wife" on it when in fact we haven't so much as held hands in 10 years; he watched me pointedly as I opened it. I said oh that's a nice bird picture and left it at that.

I nearly cried during Call the Midwife (always depresses me) as I used to watch that sitting with my little dog and its our first Christmas without him. And our turkey was slightly disappointing. I ate too many nuts before dinner.

Other than that, we are all ok. Talk about first world problems!

Mmmmcake123 · 26/12/2015 01:26

Surely there's a story to be told in the great hand cream drama, what could that possibly mean, need more info........

Mmmmcake123 · 26/12/2015 01:26

Ouryve hugs to you xx

JaceLancs · 26/12/2015 01:37

No dramas here other than me crying when DS and DD gave me s beautiful Christmas card with a letter inside confirming that they'd made s donation to cancer research in memory of one of my closest friends who died 3 weeks ago, they'd also made a shining star tree decoration with her photo in it for me

NaiceVillageOfTheDammed · 26/12/2015 08:33

Only drama was forgetting the doggie bag (we ate out) and having to drive back for it - ooo all of 2 minutes.

NaiceDog was happy with bag contents.

Savagebeauty · 26/12/2015 08:41

Yes it was very happy and straightforward here.
Compared to last year when then STBEH went AWOL and the dcs found out we were divorcing. That was interesting.

SheGotAllDaMoves · 26/12/2015 08:46

None here, though the Countdown quiz after Xmas lunch got a little heated...

Ginslinger · 26/12/2015 08:46

I can't believe the smugness of posters here Shock

No drama here either unless we count a paper cut from enthusiastic unwrapping

exLtEveDallas · 26/12/2015 08:46

Mine was too boring to be eventful.

MIL spent most of the morning in bed (got up at 2)
FIL watched ice road truckers all morning, then fell asleep on the settee.
Dinner was at 3 and over by 4.
DH went to bed for a couple of hours whilst DD and I gave each other makeovers.
PILs then watched fucking soaps and downton till I wanted to slit my wrists.

Then DD and I went to bed and made copious whispered plans to go shopping today to get out of the house and let DH look after PIL all day. I hate shopping but I've got to do something

(And whilst I know all that sounds like a moan, I'm actually just happy that both PIL are alive and satisfied with their Xmas. At least I've done my bit)

KittyandTeal · 26/12/2015 08:48

Once my sil had made me feel better about my mil and fil taking over the kitchen to make brandy butter while we were trying to cook for 12 then telling us how to do everything I was fine!

Bless sil and bil, every so often they would appear and whisper in my ear 'can I suggest you do it a totally different, less effective way'

We got very drunk and had a lovely time.

TotalConfucius · 26/12/2015 09:35

Well, I got a little miffed when BIL did not wait for everyone to be served before tucking in but tbh he's been working toward such a display for a couple of years now. DD noticed and smoothed oil over troubled waters before I started lashing out with crackers and chipolatas.
But a good time was had by all, we had a lovely laughey evening over The Game then they all sodded off home. Job was done.
