There is a new chemical that the government seen to be hiding from us - dihydrogen monoxide. Not many people seem to have heard of it but it is widely used.

Why do they always hide this sort of thing from us. See the website below for more information.

WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN???

Stratter5 · 26/12/2015 08:41

I got banned from a FB group for pointing out that "chemical free shampoo" wasn't chemical free if it contained borax, salt etc and that everything was a chemical!

Grin

I got banned from one for pointing out that two different packet mixes combined was assembly, and not 'cooking with only two ingredients'. Apparently, it was v v rude to cast aspersions on their baking abilities.

Andrewofgg · 26/12/2015 09:32

Is there a petition we can sign?

It's a racing certainty that there is but please, nobody post a link to it!

Oh the list, the list.... www.dhmo.org/facts.html

It's Boxing Day, I don't have time for this! Can we get together tomorrow, save the world from this shocking chemical then?

We need to deluge the press with information, drown our MPs with information requests. No drip feeding the public, we need to splash this across every paper in the country. And we must be ready for a long campaign, we can't let it dry up due to lack of understanding.

We must wash away the ignorance of the public about this menace.

Poor Cumbria is getting a lot of dihydrogen monoxide. It's a conspiracy.

Ohbehave1 · 26/12/2015 10:46

Water lot of bad puns on this thread...

Drip feeding :(

BeyondJinglebells · 26/12/2015 12:29

Sigh. Sorry but i have a massive sense of humour failure when it comes to dhmo, and i knew it would be that when i saw the thread. Again, sorry, i know i shouldnt have clicked.

Its just so bloody inaccurate, water already has a perfectly good chemical name if you're just being satirical, that most people dont know and would work. And nothing winds me up more than inaccurate satire. It does not help that the people i know who share this type of thing think they are a whole lot more clever than they actually are.

OurBlanche · 26/12/2015 12:32

Oooh! Judgey knickers! Spoil sport!

Get a grip, it is Boxing Day and some of us like the light relief!

awfullyproper · 26/12/2015 12:34

If you mix it with fruit and test and leave it for a few months it can significantly improve christmas!!!

Andrewofgg · 26/12/2015 14:16

Come on then, BeyondJinglebells, you obviously want to be asked the correct name for dhmo, and I will indulge you - what is it?

OurBlanche · 26/12/2015 14:21

Ah, don't do that. The corrected version has been out there for 30+ years. But the DHMO seems to have stuck!

DOH! Grin

BeyondJinglebells · 26/12/2015 14:26

I dont want to be asked, if it was relevant i would have included it? Like i said, it is just one of those things that rubs me up the wrong way, and i apologised in advance for being a twat and pointing that out.

It is probably 99% due to the people i know who share this type of thing and i am genuinely sorry for being twatty about it :)

Helenluvsrob · 26/12/2015 14:29

Dihydrogen monoxide is a killer I tell you! And what is the government doing about it?

Maybe we need a petition!

OurBlanche · 26/12/2015 14:31

Oh, you need to apologise more than that!

I am now singing

Love is like oxidane...

It has become an earworm! I hates ya, I tells ya! I truly does Xmas Smile

LumelaMme · 26/12/2015 14:41

FIL used to leave a bowl out for passing dogs with 'O24K9S' written on the side and people used to complain that it was dangerous to leave random chemicals where dogs and children could get at them.

I am not joking, either.

Ohbehave1 · 26/12/2015 15:58

Wow beyondjinglebells. If you have a massive sense of humour failure at this what on earth would you be like if something really serious was posted.

I got a couple of grips for Christmas. Would you like them.
