To think I'll be able to get a sodding turkey?

Doing the second half of the big Xmas shop tomorrow morning. DH is convinced turkey will be sold out everywhere and there'll be none to be found. I think there'll be plenty and he's being a paranoid knob (also, it's a turkey, big fucking deal). Who is right?

The last couple of years there have always been plenty of turkeys being sold off cheap after Christmas in m&s etc after Christmas so I'd be surprised if they sold out tbh.

Just Beene admitted to hospital. DH at work to morrow. Asked him to pick up turkey and bits in case I come out Christmas Day. We have a turkey crown mince pies and Jaffa cakes.

There were loads in M&S yesterday,it was one of those small M&S shops and no one seemed to be buying any of the turkeys in there.

5BlueHydrangea · 23/12/2015 21:44

LOADS in Tesco today near me

stitchglitched · 23/12/2015 21:44

Just got back from shopping, both Morrisons and Aldi had loads of turkeys.

timelytess · 23/12/2015 21:48

I have often bought fresh turkey on Christmas Eve. Go out early to avoid the rush. It will be fine.

I still remember the Great Swede Shortage of 2014. There was nearly a riot in Waitrose.

I got the last one in the local corner shop and narrowly escaped a raging lynch mob as a result.

Definitely get there early.

QueryQuery · 24/12/2015 08:35

Very few turkeys in lidl last night, but lots of smoked salmon. Loads of veg too. Parsnips and sprouts were a bargainous 29p a packet.

WiryElevator · 24/12/2015 08:37

I haven't ordered a turkey for years. Usually get DH to get one in Central London on 23rd/24th but was passing M & S on Tuesday so picked one up off the shelf then.

Unless you live somewhere where there's only one supermarket for miles, I'm sure there will be loads of choice.

Lots of turkeys in the mahoosive Tesco near us today. The most impressive sight was the bread though, that aisle was double stacked with crates of the stuff. I felt quite inadequate buying a small white loaf and half a dozen bread cakes :o

megletthesecond · 24/12/2015 11:23

I suppose that the staff must benefit from xmas eve leftovers and get to buy it all for pennies with staff discount. I used to have a friend who worked for one and her fridge was stuffed with reduced sticker items.

Sparklycat · 24/12/2015 11:41

Absolutely! Every year our waitrose has masses of turkeys hugely reduced in Xmas eve afternoon, going for a tenner or so each. I always get upset about the waste.
