One of my very close friends has a friend, who I see occasionally when we all meet up for coffee or lunch, we aren't close or anything. She has posted on Facebook this morning that she hasn't wrapped any presents, each to their own and all that but I asked her why, and she said that none of them have arrived yet! Aibu to think that by Christmas Eve eve if you want to call it that, that most people would have all of their presents bought or maybe just a few last minute bits to get? I cannot believe how unorganised she is considering she has five children to buy for, I'd be seriously pooping myself now if I hadn't had bought a single thing or had them here to wrap.

I'm trying to understand how what this woman does or does not do at Christmas is anything to do with you. Mind your own bloody business.

I would be stressed too if that was me but obviously she isn't, so how does it matter?!

Most of our presents are already wrapped and under the tree but my 3yo carefully unwrapped one today when my back was turned, so that will teach me to be organised 😁

Well I'd be shitting myself if I hadn't bought anything by this point. Five kids are a lot to buy for. I love the competitive non judging on this site sometimes - irl everyone I know would be privately thinking she was cutting it a bit fine.

Not a big deal if you have a baby, who doesn't know it's Christmas anyway, but older kids will have definite ideas that Christmas comes with presents. She runs the risk that she wont he able to get what her dcs really want.

Five kids, single parent, benefits, detailed knowledge of maintenance from ex. This thread has it all!

Enjoy your Christmas OP and stop putting the boot in.

I really, really wouldn't think anything in RL. Really.

I bought all mine from Amazon (my kids get four each) and not everything is here yet. It will be okay.

And I always wrap everything on Christmas Eve.

So you'd leave it until Christmas Eve to buy all of your presents for five children? If she gets them say 10 things each

What? 10 things each - good grief

Not saying she's not cutting it fine but why worry if it's not you?...I would be in the 'Good-luck with that!' camp...OP doesn't really like this lady so it seems more like judgement and faux concern for the children.

I actually love wrapping prezzies...

I wouldn't. I bought everything I needed in a couple of hours last Saturday.

Oh her poor children.

Just for the record dh and I are both working tomorrow, as we have been for the whole of December.

Our poor children, who won't get to spend a "relaxing" Christmas Eve with us.

Get a grip for fucks sake

AND I'm a single parent

I don't get my single DS 10 items. Never have.

He'll have two this year. Both unwrapable. One will be wrapped by proxy. Maybe.

I got four of my nephews presents in one go yesterday morning. I could easily go tomorrow morning and buy five items for five different kids.

Normally I wouldn't leave them that late, but it wouldn't be the end of the world and quite feasible.

Bet your house smells really nice though Kung fsmile

You'd think, wouldn't you? Unfortunately, one of the lesser things that went wrong is that they smell of nothing at all. And are an odd sort of gangrenous flesh colour. I did exactly what I've done every other time, so clearly some strange chemical reaction has taken place. Maybe I've discovered a new element or something...

Isnt christmas eve traditional christmas shopping day? Tjat would kick christmas baxk into December where it belongs. Bit sick of it after weeks of songs and adverts. Maybe shes reviving the trend?
Would be a great way for us all to do it.

If I had a dicky bird to wrap, I'd probably be putting it off too. Think of all the flapping...

Well I have everything ready and wrapped. But then little choice for me as work in a care home and am working Christmas eve afternoon till 9. And then I am working Christmas day 2.30 till 9 as is my day to work this year. But for us boxing day is more family time as have a big buffet with loads of family coming. We also do family presents that day too. Each to their own.

I had heart palpitations reading your OP.

I still have presents to wrap but the thought of not having all the presents here by the 22nd Dec makes me anxious. I also would not want to go into the city and buy all those presents in the awful queues.

Each to their own and all that but I don't understand it either.

I get epic bargains on Xmas eve, presents are wrapped and under the tree by Xmas day. Does it matter when they're bought...? No.

Op, grow up, get a life and some hobbies. If you're this much of a judgemental cow you'll lose what friends you have, so sort your attitude problem. I honestly hope you're no one I know.

10 presents each? Why would they need that? In any case, if she is happy to do it this way, it is entirely up to her. I don't see any problem with that. For what it's worth it, my London commuter train was packed with shoppers today, so it must be quite common to shop last minute. Personally, I buy throughout December and stick all parcels under the tree straight away. So my presents have been out fit a couple of weeks now. I thought this was normal until 2 years ago when a friend's child came to visit and was very confused to see presents under my tree in early December. I had to pretend they were empty decoration boxesConfused
