Daniel Craig/newer james Bond

Downton

anything big fat gypsy/Essex/chelsera/Geordie/housewives...

Kardashian.

Jose Mourinho (footy fans think hes a god, but hes a mysoginist and bully)

David Bekham- walking tattoo parlour, throwing toys out of pram when he was playing footy, frowning and thinks that's sexy, always showing his bulge, so obviously after a knighthood as if hes the only person whos ever played footy.

X Factor, Strictly and The Voice = watching people do stuff badly. None of us would pay to see any of them down the local pub.

Adele just BELLOWS ALL AT ONE LEVEL. She's like a fucking stuck elephant.

Can't see the point of the Kardashians.

Downtown is carcinogenic revisionist crap whose sole purpose is to tell us all that posh folk are just the same as ordinary folk but they happen to have money, what-ho, and as such is dangerous given that its rise in popularity has coincided with Cameron's semi-feudal anti-meritocratic administration and therefore should be put against a wall and shot.

MistressoftheYoniverse · 21/12/2015 21:31

Don't hold back youmust Grin. I don't like it either but I loved Gosford Park.

MistressoftheYoniverse · 21/12/2015 21:36

Pasi was it Gordon Ramsey?...Simon Cowell?...

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/12/2015 21:39

Oh I love Downton. I love it for the beautiful sets and costumes and the.....primness. Story lines are a bit far fetched. It's like 1920s Dynasty really - what's not to like?!

You're wrong about the class thing. This last Series has all been about the downfall of the upper classes. You would love it, Youmustbekidding! Wink

MistressoftheYoniverse · 21/12/2015 21:39

Pray tell me it's no the moon-faced git David Cameron...don't tell me it's Georgey boy! Grin

Quornmakesmefart · 21/12/2015 21:41

I agree with you on everything but Strictly OP.

I particularly don't understand the fascination with David Beckham (or his wife, come to that). He is average looking, talks in a dull monotone and clearly doesn't have much going on between his ears.

youmustbekidding · 21/12/2015 21:44

Hrm, maybe I should give it a go then CurlyHairedAssassin. Does it end in a bloodbath?

Is Gosford Park the one with Helen Mirren and the guy who gets shot? I liked that. But Downton is a step too far for me.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/12/2015 21:46

I agree with Adele and sounding like a dirge. She does sound like a stalker, doesn't she? I often wonder why she's still writing songs like Hello when he's happily settled with a bloke and baby. He must be right fed up with it.

As am I - our local radio station is fond of playing "hello" at the exact moment I'm shuffling into the kitchen in the morning trying to wake myself and the kids up before we fall asleep in our breakfast. Usually played when it's a dank and miserable day outside and that song makes everything feel a bit shitter.

I yearn for All I Want For Christmas to come on instead. Something upbeat that doesn't make me want to ring the Samaritans. (Even then they'd probably just answer with "hello.....How are you?")

derxa · 21/12/2015 21:49

IndridCold · 21/12/2015 21:49

Tom Jones is a singer. Great voice, great songs, that's all he has to do to get it right, so you are wrong there.

Daniel Craig is good as Bond but a bit boring otherwise.

Other than that you are spot on, except that you forgot Idris Elba. Caught up with Luther last night and I just cannot understand the luuurve.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 21/12/2015 21:53

I like Call The Midwife. I used to like Downton but am less fussed about it now, although Maggie Smith is superb and I used to work in the house that is filmed as being hers, so that was always fun to see.

I think Adele is a good singer, as it goes. Better than average, but I don't really care.
Kylie has done very well for herself and seems like a nice person.

Couldn't give a stuff about the rest on your list though.

Hassled · 21/12/2015 21:57

I do love Kylie. She's just so damn nice and pretty. And Tom Jones - I adore him. I like the way he's happy to take the piss out of himself. Have never understood the whole Strictly thing, though.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 21/12/2015 22:04

I am never watching X Factor again after this year's utter shite.

Strictly, Downton, My Big Fat anything, Say Yes to the Dress, Cake Boss, Call the Midwife. All 100% YES.

Daniel Craig and Adele YES.

Everything else on your list, don't care.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/12/2015 22:22

Have gone off Kylie after reading about her relationship with a bloke 19 years younger. Urgh. (And yes, I'd feel the same about a man with a much younger woman)

CheerfulYank · 21/12/2015 22:33

I love Adele!

Pasithea · 21/12/2015 22:58

Mistress noooooooooo far worse

ohYestoYestyn · 21/12/2015 23:03

RE Adele, who do you think is better right now as both a singer and songwriter though? Especially among women?
I think she is quite repetitive but she is very young, she might have a new wave, she does have talent though, Someone Like You on its own is enough to state this.

Agree mostly with the rest of list.

Kylie made a career based on her sex appeal and the ability to move well on stage, she is excellent at controlling her body and the affect it makes, it's THE sweet/girly variation of a sexiness, a talent in itself. Obv it's not about the voice or any other talent.

Daniel Craig is good looking and fit but something is lacking for sure (too reserved or inscrutable?). He's great at silent fight scenes though.

derxa · 21/12/2015 23:05

Jeremy Kyle?

ohYestoYestyn · 21/12/2015 23:09

oh and as far as love for Adele, it's not only the talent, she is such a real woman, no diva and not 'too cool', most women relate to her insecurities, emotional and body-wise.

DropYourSword · 21/12/2015 23:14

Passithea it can't be as bad as my recent sex dream about...

shudder...

Justin Bieber!!
Shock

PunkrockerGirl · 21/12/2015 23:24

Agree about Kylie. Boring, talentless and very annoying.

wasonthelist · 21/12/2015 23:38

Yanbu op and as for your critics - I quite often get reactions of disbelief or amazement (when it's not a more sneery reaction). I am fully expecting villagers wirh torches and pitchforks because I don't give a fuck about fucking Star Wars either.

derxa · 21/12/2015 23:43

I don't give a fuck about fucking Star Wars either. Nor do I. It's the sort of 'goblin' thing my DH and DSs watch. Grin
