Jeremy Kyle? Maybe it's just me, but there seem to be more and more posts and posters whose stories / problems wouldn't be out of place on JK. It all seems to have become a bit dumbed down and there's precious little wit or intelligence displayed anywhere.

A shame as I used to find MN good for both lighthearted fun stuff and more serious discussion.

But it has to be a passive aggressive slanging match.

FreeWorker1 · 19/12/2015 15:20

People who type with text speak should be banned as well.

I refuse to converse in text speak because my generation invented the internet and I do not expect it to be traduced in such an oafish fashion.

I am old enough to have used telephones connected to walls with curly wires, writing on note paper with a fountain pen, receiving telegrams, working with telex and computers with green screens and MN without adverts.

I just dont know what the world come to. Hmm

Ohbehave1 · 19/12/2015 15:22

So are you saying that those who appear on JK are dumber than you OP? Or of a lower standing......

AnthonyBlanche · 19/12/2015 18:12

" Lewji I'm not offended

But you completely missed my point. More likely this type of thread is designed to offend people who post in MN. Don't you think?
Think carefully."

Who exactly is going to be offended? I named no names and didn't refer to any specific thread. suggest you think carefully about whether you are trying to be deliberately provocative and whether your tone strikes just the right shade of patronising.

I'm not saying anything of the sort. Though I do think you would have to be a particular type of person to willingly appear on JK. What do you think Ohbehave? Is appearing on JK the sort of thing that only people cleverer than you would do?

OP posts:
Ohbehave1 · 19/12/2015 18:48

Oh. Anthony. That was very clever of you saying that I am not intelligent enough to appear on JK.

Btw. You may not ha e said it but it was implied. But then I guess you are for too clever and MC to appear on the program Confused

Pantone363 · 19/12/2015 18:52

Oh I think there's quite a few sophisticated trolls around at the moment.

Take one vaguely believable thread, insert some key words, some middle class angst (usually overdone) and then drip feed every 50 posts or so.

Also the fuckers going onto every thread and TELLING OP OFF BECAUSE PEOPLE IN AFRICA ARE STARVING.

Lweji · 19/12/2015 18:52

whether you are trying to be deliberately provocative and whether your tone strikes just the right shade of patronising.

Erm...
That is the tone of the OP you started...

BatsUpMyNightie · 19/12/2015 18:57

I think the OP's assumptions are mostly bollocks but I have to congratulate rosebiggs and Worra for the two funniest lines of the day, never mind the thread!

AnthonyBlanche · 19/12/2015 19:05

Are you accusing me of being a troll pantone ? Can assure you I am not. As often happens the MN middle class pretending to be vair vair working class are venting their spleen. The real laugh is that I can guarantee my background is more working class than 99% of people who have posted on this thread. However, I still would rather eat my own arm than appear on JK.

I think this thread has confirmed to me that MN is not very interesting these days.

P.s. Pants the reason I don't post constantly is because I have a life and things to do which don't involve trivial nonsense on the Internet. I am clearly in the minority in that respect, so shall now leave those of you with lots and lots of free time to get on with it.

I think YABU. That said, has anyone read some of the threads on Netmums? There's a board where it's all "being investigated for benefits fraud but I'm innocent" and "social services have stolen my children but they are very well cared for". Mmm hmm.

AnthonyBlanche · 19/12/2015 19:12

Sorry, Pantone, not pants.

Did you come here venting your spleen about threads you don't approve of and are pissed off by people calling you on it?

Do you think threads like yours show any wit or intelligence?
