To be disappointed with my friends?

Quick bit of background - my DH and I moved from the UK to Spain about 4 years ago. We still have very good friends in the UK who have visited us since we moved, and we go back regularly to both them and family.

Since having our DD 4 months ago however, none of our friends have visited so no one UK based apart from our parents has met her yet.

AIBU to be disappointed and slightly annoyed that no one has made the effort to come and see us?

I understand that time / money can be an issue, but if one of my friends in the UK had a baby I would make the effort to visit asap. We are only a 2.5 hour flight away and you can get really cheap flights.

Thanks all, you have given me some (apparently much needed) perspective!!

To answer some of the comments, yes they have been invited, and yes they would normally stay with us which would be more difficult with DD.

Have you turned into someone who can only talk about their baby?
Lol, I hope not! None of my friends here have complained about this so I don't think so.

Do you have close friends in Spain?
We do, who happily enjoy spending time with us with the baby. But this doesn't mean I don't miss my UK friends.

there was absolutely nothing to stop you getting on a plane at any stage
Except all the things that I now realise stop everyone - time, money, holiday from work etc etc

Thank you MN for a much needed bite of reality!!

Finally,

You are being unbelievably PFB.
I may regret asking, but PFB?

Also meant to say we are flying back to the UK for Christmas, so will be catching up with family and friends soon Grin

treble - hope you enjoy catching up with your mates at Xmas.

btw I've been here 6 months and I don't know what PFB means either!

You sound lovely, OP - well done for taking our comments on the chin. Hope you have a nice time catching up with friends over Christmas and entice some over for 2016.

Enjoy your time back in the UK. I bet baby gets cuddled by everyone. Have they seen baby via Skype or FaceTime? That's a good way to cross the miles and introduce without costing anyone an arm and a leg?

Enjoy your trip back to the UK!

YABU. Only one friend has visited my 4 month old, and my friends live an hour away (all in the UK).
