I'm really Hmm about this.

Who thought it would be a good idea in this day and age. Maybe in the 90s

Sorry but it made me smile , it's a piss take

Narp · 13/12/2015 18:36

Watched it again. Funny!

Maudofallhopefulness · 13/12/2015 19:04

That's what I said to DH, Wasonthelist . 'Heavy duty black bin bags, if you're bi or straight or bender'.

tropical1 · 13/12/2015 19:09

I used to work at Robert dyas back in the 80's. They were quite quirky in lots of ways, the women started work half an hour after the men & we had separate staff rooms for men & women!

wasonthelist · 13/12/2015 19:09

Grin Maud

EastMidsMummy · 13/12/2015 19:32

How have you not heard of Robert Dyas?

The most northerly store is in Birmingham.

Flashbangandgone · 13/12/2015 19:42

It's quirky and I found it funny - clearly meant to be humorous. I can't see anything offensive about this ad!

SoWhite · 13/12/2015 19:43

The most northerly store is in Birmingham.

And yet I'm from Manchester. Just clued up on UK stores it seems.

Flashbangandgone · 13/12/2015 19:46

I'm sorry, but those who thought this was an advert in which Robert Dyas were trying seriously, if excruciatingly awkwardly, to show they actually had something for all sexualities, have a serious sense of humour deficit!

Ceasre · 13/12/2015 19:53

I love Robert Dyas and I love it even more now. This advert had me crying with laughter along with my gay son who also thinks it is fabulous. It is so bad it is genius!

TiggyD · 13/12/2015 20:00

Where's the T Robert Dyas?

BIWI · 13/12/2015 20:08

How on earth can you not see that it's funny?

Unless you're trying to goad people, of course ... Hmm

RiverTam · 13/12/2015 20:16

That is fucking hilarious. I can't believe any of you took it seriously!

DyslexicScientist · 14/12/2015 08:41

Obviously it is a joke, I just don't think its clever or funny. Who gives a fuck about a strangers sexuality?

Might as well pickup a toaster and say I've got brown hair. Its just dumb.

MitzyLeFrouf · 14/12/2015 10:09

Fucking hilarious?

Wow. Some people's 'fucking hilarious' bar is set pretty low. I don't find it offensive or anything, just dull really.

JeanneDeMontbaston · 14/12/2015 10:13

It's designed to go viral, isn't it?

That's why it's not quite funny/clever, not very obvious what it's parodying, and a bit lame.

The idea is that we all wonder what's going on and why, and talk about it.

So, clearly, it works. Smile

RiverTam · 14/12/2015 10:19

It's hilarious In the context of lots of po-faced MNers huffing about it, unable to see that it's blindingly obviously a piss-take. Plus I love Robert Dyas.

coffeetasteslikeshit · 14/12/2015 13:28

How is it blindingly obvious that it's a piss-take? It's quite obviously a piss-take of what?

I've never heard of Robert Dyas and from the look of the ad I thought it was for a local diy store.

Jux · 15/12/2015 00:06

It is funny. The Red House ad is funnier though, it actually made me laugh.

I think we must have a Robert Dyas somewhere near, as I have certainly heard of them, and quite possibly shopped in one.

BIWI · 15/12/2015 09:06

If you don't see this ad as funny, what on earth do you think it's about or trying to say? Confused

How could this possibly be any kind of 'straight' (forgive the pun) advertising?!

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 15/12/2015 09:30

It's not just northern, I don't know about now but they did have stores in Canary Wharf and East Grinstead.

emsyj · 15/12/2015 09:38

When I worked in London, there was a Robert Dyas opposite my office. They sell an utterly bizarre but quite fascinating range of stuff. It's a great place to buy secret santa gifts and a real treasure trove of stuff you never knew you needed!

SoWhite · 15/12/2015 10:39

You didn't work by Chancery Lane tube, did you emsyj?

emsyj · 15/12/2015 11:09

Fleet St SoWhite - so not far from Chancery Lane!

catsrus · 15/12/2015 11:17

I love Robert Dyas - and their online delivery / returns is really efficient - we got some stand alone induction hobs, one was faulty, they arranged a replacement and collection of the faulty one for the next morning. Great customer support. I'm a little bit addicted to their catalogue
