I'm really Hmm about this.

Who thought it would be a good idea in this day and age. Maybe in the 90s

Brilliant viral marketing ploy. It's so cringey, it's good fodder for every news outlet to pick up and get viewers to.

DyslexicScientist · 13/12/2015 13:15

Why is it a female story?

DM is so sexist .

Brilliant viral marketing ploy.

^this. And I love it!

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/12/2015 13:16

I've never heard of Robert Dyas either.

ghostyslovesheep · 13/12/2015 13:17

well it made me roar laughing - it's obviously tongue in cheek and very silly

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2015 13:18

Thanks Mitzy glad I am not the only one. Looks like it sells stuff I can easily get from anywhere else so I am not missing out.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 13/12/2015 13:32

I thought it was very funny.

And it has a point, drills, Christmas trees and veg shredders are perfectly suitable for people of all types

imgoingdowntown · 13/12/2015 13:36

Hahahahahahaha

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 13/12/2015 13:45

I thought it was really funny and they've had over 250,000 hits for an ad that looks like it cost about a tenner to make.

ilovesooty · 13/12/2015 13:46

It's really funny. I can't imagine why anyone would think it was serious.

mumofsnotbags · 13/12/2015 13:47

Never heard of Robert dyas either, nearest 1 to me is in Solihull 85 miles away. We do have The Range which looks quite similar, although i'm not sure if they sell drills for gay and straight people, will check with customer services next time i pop in Smile

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2015 13:50

That's my nearest one too mum. We have The Range a bit nearer which does look very similar.

PurpleGreenAvocado · 13/12/2015 13:51

We've got one in Cambridge, I can't say I shop there often though. Maybe it's because I'm confused about my sexuality but don't tell DH

SwedishEdith · 13/12/2015 14:03

I think it's funny and it's all over Twitter so it's working. Pity there's none near me - never been but I would now.

AnyoneButSanta · 13/12/2015 14:07

I love that, it's absolutely barking.

pretzelpieces · 13/12/2015 14:07

Love how the bi person is like Hmm about them just mentioning bisexuality once and then reverting to 'gays and straights'. Typical!

FithColumnist · 13/12/2015 14:13

That Marcus is quite dishy.

BurningBridges · 13/12/2015 14:25

if you go on their Facebook page you can see their (apparently) actual Christmas ad which is much more what you might expect (reminds me of 1970s Woolworths ad).

wasonthelist · 13/12/2015 14:42

Reminds me of the black bin bags song in Phoenjx nights

marfisa · 13/12/2015 15:19

I love this, it's hilarious! Can't believe people would interpret it as anything other than a joke. Xmas Hmm

They're taking the piss out of the idea that people's sexuality has anything to do with the way they shop.

BertieBotts · 13/12/2015 15:26

And there aren't any lesbians. WTF?

BertieBotts · 13/12/2015 15:27

I think I just watched the whole thing with my face like D:

SconeForAStroll · 13/12/2015 17:46

All you people that don't shop in Robert Dyas are missing out, I tells ye!

I actually do love their stores and go there more often than The Range as they are in two of my local towns. And the staff are always really nice and helpful.

I was a bit [sceptical] but it did make me chortle.

DoreenLethal · 13/12/2015 17:51

I used to go to the one in Maidstone. Many many years ago. Didn't know they were still in business.
