..... with oven chips, oven rings and gravy?

In my defence, I'm ill and couldn't be standing cutting potatoes and veg, and the kids seems happy with it!

Lweji nope, just me. That's if I can be classed as an adult Wink

Kids won't eat peas with gravy Sad Would have had to be cauliflower and broccoli and carrots, but there was none in the freezer. Eldest didn't want gravy, so had mayo and tomato sauce.

I licked my plate. Now IABU!

DS had left over pizza for breakfast and lunch (his choice), so you are forgiven.

momb · 06/12/2015 18:53

YABU. Stressed roast chicken dinner should involve bread, butter and mayonnaise. Oven chips and onion rings involves effort and you are ill!

justkeepongoing · 06/12/2015 18:54

Love it.....looked in the fridge ....no veg I've cooked roast pork and chips. Will probably throw some manky salad with it and hope no one notices!

BlackeyedSusan · 06/12/2015 18:55

impressed you managed to bend and put stuff in the oven to be honest.

Battleshiphips2 · 06/12/2015 19:01

My ds had a bagel. DH had tinned curry and microwave rice and I had left over soup. Tbf I had mum and dad round for lunch and did soup and bread, jacket potatoes with fillings and peach, banana and blueberry crumble with custard so we are all still stuffed! Roast chicken and chips is delicious and you can't go wrong with onion rings.

AliceInUnderpants · 06/12/2015 19:02

impressed you managed to bend and put stuff in the oven to be honest.

Confused I bunged the chicken in a roasting dish, put it in the oven and set the timer for 1hr30, then when it went off, I bunged in a tray of chips, and a tray with some onion rings, set the timer for 20mins. When the timer dinged, I slapped a bit of chicken on each plate, a serving of chips (none of the buggers wanted onion rings so I ate them myself), asked the youngest to shovel 4 spoonfuls of gravy granules into a jug, topped up to 1/2 pt with boiled water, and got her to stir in. Then sat on my arse with my plate, shouted the kids and told them to grab anything else they needed with it.

DS1 had spaghetti with a dollop of pesto (no pasta shapes 'cos we forgot to buy any), DS2 had beans in a bowl with a side of raw carrot Hmm, I have had a cup of tea because I've been snacking on crisps all day Blush and DH will roll in in about 20 minutes 4 sheets to the wind and clutching a kebab.

We win the classy war, innit.

AdoraBell · 06/12/2015 19:12

YADNBU and I hope you feel better very soon.

We'll be having cheese and crackers because my downstairs lights have gone. I know I just need to flick the switch but the fuse box is high up above a glass desk in a room filled with crapula so it's not happening tonight.

redexpat · 06/12/2015 19:13

Oooh onion rings ....

Lynnm63 · 06/12/2015 19:24

Sounds lovely and I hope you get well soon

ouryve · 06/12/2015 19:27

I've done pretty much that, before. Oven chips, frozen veg and a big dollop of mayo or ketchup!

It's food. Not the healthiest balance, but at least the chuck didn't get wasted.

BogusCatAndTheFuzz · 06/12/2015 19:29

Chicken & chips mmmmmmmm

If I hadn't just stuffed my self with Indian takeaway I could be tempted, very very tempted

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 06/12/2015 19:30

I love onion rings especially beer battered ones.
DS 10 months had spaghetti bolognese followed by semolina with blueberries (both from freezer, batch cooked). Me and DH had a mozzarella and tomato panini once DS went to bed as I really couldn't be arsed cooking.

OhSoggyBiscuit · 06/12/2015 19:33

Roast chicken goes best with chips and gravy! That's how my Mum always serves it.

Euripidesralph · 06/12/2015 19:57

Yadnbu I once served christmas dinner with spicy potato wedges because I realised I had forgotten potatoes at the last minute on Christmas day and I didn't even have the excuse of children at the time , or illness... just very unorganised :-) in fairness noone has ever forgotten that xmas day :-)

ClancyMoped · 06/12/2015 20:16

Mmm, is this actually a stealth boast. Wink

I've done a lot, lot worse. Confused

MrsJayy · 06/12/2015 20:22

AliceInUnderpants · 06/12/2015 20:36

Haha sorry wasn't a stealth boast (though it was delicious Wink) just wasn't quite the wholesome Sunday roast I had planned.

More like a stealth roast.

Smellyoulateralligater · 06/12/2015 20:40

Onions count as part of your 5-a-day so in fact you should feel extremely virtuous 😇

thesortingtwat · 06/12/2015 20:44

I ate the icing off the Yule log and gave the children naked cake. Do I win?

thesortingtwat · 06/12/2015 20:45
