To think you can still be greedy if you are slim?

Reading several of the food posts on AIBU, a common thing I come across is people who say, usually about their DH or DP, is that oh my partner needs loads of food and it doesn't matter because he is slim/thin etc.

You can still be greedy and be slim. Stuffing loads of food isn't a good thing and it doesn't make it ok just because you don't visibly look obese.

Slim people can have high levels of internal fat so may not look fat

I really wish I was just 'internally fat' Grin

Aww toffee - hidden fat is worse!

baublesbells I wouldn't be saying that actually. Bit similar to how I wouldn't start make a comment nor start a thread about women's eating habits and body shapes, knowing a load of women will then start outlining their eating habits at which point you can make flippant remarks. You're no doubt like that in RL too. Since Im never struck by a need to make anyone feel uncomfortable about their shape or size nor sticking my beak in judging them as greedy... I think Im ok as I am thanks so I'll leave you to get on with the worthiness of being a guru on greedSmile . Enjoy your crusade

Mistress

You are not the thread police so just because you wouldn't start a thread on one topic doesn't mean no one else can. You would start your crusade on banning everything just because you wouldn't do it yourself Smile

Can't stand your holier than thou attitude - bet you are just like that in real life too Grin

I'm slim and I eat a lot. More than most people I know. But I also go running so I burn it off. I hope I never get injured, I'll put on about 3 stone!

angelos02 · 11/12/2015 10:39

Of course you can be greedy and slim. I used to work with a guy that ate all day long but there wasn't any excess weight on him as he cycled to and from work about 15 miles round trip per day.

I have never, ever met anyone 'naturally slim'. If someone eat loads and is slim, they burn it off through exercise, nervous energy etc.

blueshoes · 11/12/2015 11:08

"greedy" is quite a loaded term. Is there anything inherently wrong with eating a lot and still being slim?

munkisocks · 11/12/2015 11:10

I'm ridiculously greedy. Used to be very skinny, now I'm getting a bit heavier. Always been greedy though. Dh is very overweight but not actually greedy.

phoenix1973 · 11/12/2015 11:18

Absolutely!
When I was in my late teens, I ate like a horse. Anything and everything good and bad. I had no off button.
However, I walked for at least 2 hours a day as I had no car and hated the bus. Then sometimes I would jog in the evening or go to a club and dance from 8pm to 2am.
So, yes, I was greedy but skinny (size 10 needed a safety pin to hold it up).
Then I got a car and a sedentary office job but retained my eating habits.
So I got fat.

Thanks for your point of views anotherusername, angelos, munkisocks and phoneix

"Greedy" to me is about behaviour and attitude rather than nutrition/fitness/health. It's still stuffing your face when your stomach is full. Man Vs Food type behaviour. If I've eaten a whole tub of Ben & Jerry's it's greed rather than hunger that's been behind my actions. Greed is ruthlessly striving for more money/assets when you have more than enough to have a wonderful lifestyle. It's taking more than your fair share and never being content with the reasonable amount you already have, although I appreciate that's subjective.

baublesbells · 11/12/2015 14:28

That is a really good definition What thank you

I think for some people it is a very loaded and judgemental word. Slim and overweight people can still stuff themselves even when full. But often slim people seem to be excluded from this and this is what I was making a point about

I am regularly told to have more cake, biscuits etc as it doesn't matter because I am slim. Well it does matter to me, because I don't want any more and I don't want any more just because I am slim and can get away with it
